Are you? The colours of this are very ugly, and it's very typical of why people dislike homemade craft items as gifts, absolutely no colour theory involved. I'm not trying to be rude, btw, I just find it amazing that you seem to be mistaking the kind of feeling of a project being completed so the item exists, so you just accept it, with the colours and patterns actually looking good. They don't. IMHO. What I mean is, consider this, when you make an item of clothes by hand, it's actually an incredibly expensive item for what it is, right? Because you have the cost of the materials as well as your labour and other pricing considerations if you were going to sell it. Yet most crochet and knitwear looks cheap AF, because people use large needles to save time and colour combinations that not only do not take colour theory into consideration, but really can't be worn anywhere that an item of clothes of that price range can be worn. I know it's just scraps but this sweater should sell for upwards of $200 USD if it were for sale, no? From the pricing regarding time spent etc, but it looks like an item from a hippy's market stall. Crochet, knitting and all the other handicrafts are artisan crafts created and done by men so the items could be sold for profit. It's only now that women do this as a hobby that they make any old crap for entertainment or whatever.

Just be careful because it only works with animal fibres- you’re basically felting the ends together with water and heat/friction. It won’t work with cotton or acrylic yarn. But it’s fantastic for animal fibres! Also known as a Spit Join (because historically, people would just wet the ends of the yarn in their mouth and then rub! 😬)

I know! I just learned to knit and I am completely obsessed! Continental style knitting is definitely for crocheters, and for anyone who has not tried it, Russian purl is the easiest, fastest way to get that pesky purl done and over with. Well, that, and knitting ither flat, or circular, on circular needles. That way you never ever have to do a pesky purl, much less and easy Russian one ( forget Norwegian Purl; you can mess up your tension with all that wriggling and twisting, ya might just as well do a regular Continental pur - but English purl is more naturally/ergonomically done that but I just cannot hold my yarn in my right hand period). By the way, If you ever run into a pattern where you have to do 46 million purls back across a great expanse [ sz 4X TALL sweater or throw/blanket ] , learn "Backward Knit[ting] Stitch". It is not as hard as you may be imagining it to be. It is a very simple, direct, very knitstitch-like way back across the face of your fabric without ever having to turn your work over - which is why you have to do a purl in the first place - because it is the exact opposite of a knit stitch. Now, It's not exactly a purl, but the other side looks like knit when you're done. There are some designs 'n patterns that simply need a purl, tho. Backward knitting does not replace the purl for those certain stitch designs that build upon one another, but it will get you across great expanses of simple stitching in no time flat.
