Within two days his arm was so swollen he couldn’t bend his arm. He ended up in the hospital for two weeks and then another week of going in daily for more intravenous antibiotics. He had such a bad infection he almost lost his arm from the elbow down. It was bad. No matter how small the wound, always take the two minutes to clean it out and bandage it up. You don’t need to run the risk of a very nasty infection. Especially with the amount of insects and animals that were calling that place home, not to mention whatever bacteria grows in the damp and dark.

Go get a genie lift. Buy a used one and sell it after the project. It's cheaper than a broken window or injury.

I always really liked that house roof shape when I biked by it , hope you two get it back up to shape. Such a lovely view .Good luck , and good luck with the parking situation. So glad it is not being turned into concrete and glass “modern” helicopter landing pad .

Maybe a good idea to hire a contractor to do your roof, they will more likely be able to get permitted and get your house dried in, then you can finish the rest at your leisure, leaving it open may likely cost you more money and work. Enjoy your videos, this is just a suggestion.

You two are the least orthodox duo to take on this demo job. From the start I was like ok they are doing good work. But the removal of those roofs was the chefs kiss. Color me impressed. You both have more juevos than me and I’ve done renovations before. Well done.

I get the feeling you guys go through like a dozen reciprocating saw blades a day, or more. But also, one of the easier ways of getting rid of old shrubs is cutting the roots like you did there. I learned that recently after tackling some ancient bushes that had annoyed me for years and assumed I'd never be able to get out because of their location.

When he sang the baby song I was so happy. I have that song on my Spotify and I un-ironically love it so much. It's so good. I want more music 🎶

I love how positive Nick is. "We can do this in a day right?" Would be met with a "Hell no" by my husband.

How about some sheets of 1 inch plywood on the floor to snowshoe the blow when those beams hit the floor... Spare the floor

I‘ve done a lot of building and projects with my dad and it‘s so incredibly nice to see you never getting yelled at, my dad would make a mistake and then yell at me for it, and he is a really shitty builder, his motto is „use the screws I have in my pocket even if they are all different and when those run out use some nails until it won‘t move anymore… I‘m glad my brother doesn‘t yell when we work on something together but he only does car and metal stuff, so I rather work on my own than to go to my dad

7:00 All these little issues you've found with the construction and the ways they cut corners or didn't do things right-this house has still stood the test of time. Despite poor maintenance, it's still standing. If it were properly maintained, this house, with all its imperfections, would still be standing strong 50 years from now.

Guys, that four piece box section header IS stronger than a single large square board. Each side of each board is in stress or tension, meaning you have 8 times the area carrying load over a four sided square board. Hollow metal tubing in any shape is stronger than solid for the same reasons. I apologize for not explaining the engineering better or the actual math equation as sadly I only play engineer in my day job and I suck at algebra! But I do know the basics of structural building concepts and materials and trust me, the box section is what you want.

For the other half, it might be easier if you use a block and tackle to set those beams down so you dont risk yeeting the beam through the floorboards or a window. Really cool to watch this work on a MCM!

It’s so wild seeing the fireplace and just empty structure around it - I feel like it was just yesterday you were showing us around, clearing the rooms of stuff and peeling back carpets! Now look at you! 👏 (I’m so invested lol) 😂❤

It gives me SUCH satisfaction to watch your process. What an incredible place you will have by the end! We just finished building a house with a builder (I designed it alongside our engineer) and didn't have any of the skills to do it ourselves. It's always been a secret dream to do something like you are now. I appreciate the humor, patience and determination with which you face this enormous challenge. Thanks for sharing folks! Wish I lived in your area to come sit by the pool and toast to your success when you're all done! Wishing you all the best...I'll be tuning in!
