Left handed calligraphers can purchase a nib for your pen with the proper angle on the nib for lefties. I have one but I use the original which is what I learned on.

This lesson reminds me of how excited I felt whenever my 6th grade teacher removed the fountain pens and ink from the supply cabinet. She devoted entire lessons to teaching her students to write in cursive and I loved it! It was like having our writing class and art class combined. Who knew computers would come along generations later and virtually wipe out the habit of taking pen to paper to compose a beautifully written letter to the grandparents. In fact, I've heard that someone has actually decided there's no longer a need to teach cursive in American schools. What's the world coming to? Thank you for the time you (and your husband & others) take to share your talent.

Oh my word!! I have been trying to figure out how to water color cuz I love the look of water color paintings... but fail at trying to do what’s in my head lol. I stumbled onto your channel and I’m floored!!! You are so helpful! I do calligraphy with dip pens and Fountain pens (inks are my weakness) I have never bothered trying to letter with other medias. I have gotten so side tracked from my quest of figuring out how to use a brush... paint and water for that matter. I love your streams and courses it’s been playing nonstop on my TV for hours lol Thank you for sharing!

I've done calligraphy and "fun" hand lettering for the better part of 40 years (eep!) and I learned a few new tricks from you today. One really big thing was that I always had a problem with the letter v, and for whatever reason, watching you made me figure out what I was doing wrong. Thanks for your patient instruction!

I am so happy to have stumbled upon your channel J. I've suffered from anxiety my whole life. I also have what is called an ITD, intensive tremor disorder. A very frustrating condition. The closer the brush or pen gets up the paper, the more intense the tremor. If you have any ideas of overcoming this problem, I would be eternally grateful. I absolutely love Bob Ross (Such a beautiful soul. A terrible loss.)Watching him, with his Happy Accidents helped me see my efforts in a more forgiving way. This is the first time I regret never listening to my dad who wanted me to write with my right hand. It's really difficult to write with a brush as left-hande. I think that what the person wanted to say during the live is that when you push the brush instead of pulling it, the hair goes against the paper instead of gliding/sliding on it (just like with the pen nib). So what I'm trying to do is to hold the brush like if I were right-handed and write in a different way than with a pen/pencil. I watched your holiday lettering video too, if you ever want to do more of those lettering videos, I'd watch them too :)

When I went to a Catholic girls' school back in the dark ages we were drilled in Palmer's Handwriting method for years a d for hours. We learned. I have noticed that kids are not how to even hold a pencil! (Nor would they know where or on what seven o'clock is!!)

Hey Stephanie! It looks like you found the posted video of Day 2 -- this will live on my channel forever... The art classes are at different times each day, so that I can offer everyone around the world to at least one opportunity to join in live, but all of the videos are saved on my channel. Day Three will be Friday, March 27th at 8:00PM PDT. So I don't know where you're from, but you can Google the time difference that would be for you and that will tell you when the next live video will be. Day Four will be on Saturday at 12:00PM PDT. Kathie Fleming hi! Appreciate the feedback. We unfortunately can’t zoom in with this camera and it’s the only option we have for live-streaming at the moment. We have a few lettering tutorials on my channel though that have multiple angles, up close, etc. so I’d recommend checking those out!
