Hi Jenna. I’ve been learning to watercolor for the year or so. I’ve never heard anyone explain about using wet on dry so well. Like the importance of letting it dry for details and showing examples. I’ve always had trouble with that part of it. I will definitely be watching more of your videos. Thank you for sharing. 🤗

I have enjoyed your videos for many months now. I am new to watercolour painting as of last May. So, I was out shopping on Sunday. Went in to Barnes and Noble I asked the clerk where the watercolour books were located. She walked with me to the area and pulled out a book she said she liked. She paints too! I thumbed through the book and decided to bring it home with me. As I was looking at it later that day I flipped the book over and discovered it was yours! I got so excited that I let out a war hoop! Scared my family to death. Great book Jenna! (Did you pay that clerk?) LOL

Awesome informative video. I like how wet on dry technique was explained. The bird of paradise drawing was really beautiful. I loved how the technique was explained using the leaf drawing it was detailed and precise. Best part of video would be when you were waiting for the drawing to dry and John was waving hand behind you lol whoever came up with that idea for this video gets 10/10 it was really funny to watch. Would definitely love to see more videos incorporating wow and wet on dry techniques. Keep up the good work Jenna and John :D

Love your work and style! Will put your books on my wish list. So for clarification, and because I was curious: e·nun·ci·ate to utter or pronounce (words, sentences, etc.), especially in an articulate or a particular manner: He enunciates his words distinctly. to state or declare definitely, as a theory. to announce or proclaim: to enunciate one's intentions. verb (used without object), e·nun·ci·at·ed, e·nun·ci·at·ing. to pronounce words, especially in an articulate or a particular manner. Then there's annunciate - uh-nuhn-see-eyt verb (used with object), to announce. I think it's hard to find a word that means to define, articulate or clarify regarding a visual action, they all seem to relate to speech! Weird, huh? Anyway, keep painting, keep inspiring! 😉

Hello I use a lot of wet and dry technique but after like two hours the layered part still assorb the brushstroke and it comes fuzzy , not crisp like in some areas, also sorry for my English , can some one help me? I use a 300 gsm x 140 paper over an MDF surface, that’s is like wood, but at the touch is always very cool , not that warm like a wood panel, it can be an influence over the overal painting? I mean he surface that u put under the paper. Thanks a lot, also I love your book everyday watercolor I can go without ❤

Hey Jenna. I'm loving your Everyday Watercolor book. However, I'm stuck with midtones and details. I'm on the bird of paradise and not having these basic techniques down pat, it's frustrating and holding me back from starting to paint the flower. I've been struggling since day 8. Just saying\asking it'd be awesome to see more tutorials on adding midtones to wet on wet and then accentuating them with the fine details when dry. Perhaps, the monstera leaf and\or the birds of paradise flower... I'm so excited to paint, but still nervous to start. Thanks for all that you've provided this far! Can't wait to see what come next.

What do you think of using a dryer to dry it and not wait? Will it effect the outcome? TIA! Love you videos!!
@JennaRaineyChannel
@JennaRaineyChannel 4 жыл бұрын
That won't effective the outcome (of course, as long as it's not on full blast and actually pushing paint around). We would've used a dryer if it weren't all the way upstairs and we were too lazy to get it, haha.

It's very simple and uncomplicated. Anytime you are putting your brush onto an already wet surface is, Wet into Wet. (Wet brush on Wet paper) Anytime you put your wet brush onto a dry surface is, Wet on Dry. (Wet brush onto Dry paper) Then you have Dry Brush which I do on occasion.

Your work is lovely and I am enjoying using your book "Everyday Watercolor" however I feel a need to point out that the leaves are not structurally correct: the beautiful monstera deliciosa should have veins that are alternating off the leaf rib, not opposing. This might seem like a small detail to some but as a budding botanical artist it is important to me. Thanks for sharing your techniques so generously and I apologize if I have caused offense.

Since the paint you are painting over is dry, the wet fresh paint you are using paints on as if you're painting on paper -- not interacting with wet paint on paper.

You're using an incorrect word over and over in your dialog.. Enunciate.. enunciate actually means to pronounce a word correctly. It sounds really wrong when you keep using that word over and over to describe a painting technique. A more appropriate word in your context would be ... to highlight. Or accentuate....or emphasize... or.. draw attention to... or feature... or focus on... etc... but enunciate means to say or pronounce clearly. As in "she enunciated each word precisely". .. and not "she enunciated the painting with a brighter color." Its difficult to listen to your videos when you are using the same word incorrectly so many times throughout the video.

Your name, Chickadee, is being used incorrectly. You're a human, not a bird.
