Hey Jake contrary to the logic fuel line is only meant to have fuel on the inside of the fuel line. Fuel line that is meant to be submersible in gas for fuel pumps is a special type.
@pjm204Ай бұрын
I was going to comment this as well. Submersible fuel line will usually be marked submersible.

Use a dead blow hammer on another dead blow hammer. The force will be more even, and less likely to fracture parts. I'm not a motorcycle mechanic, just a retired maintenance mechanic that has torn down various seized machines. My 2 pennies. I enjoy your shows, and always learn new things.

My brother had 535i (E12) bmw that he seized solid, and it stood for 5 years until an African guy bought it (we from South Africa) and towed it away. The next day he came past, driving that bmw, to collect the papers and my brother asked if they pulled the engine and rebuilt it in one night? The guy said no, he took it home, took the plugs off, poured ATF fluid in the cylinders, let it sit for 2 hours, then put it in 2st gear and put 10 friends and neighbours at the front, and 10 at the back, and they just rocked it backwards and forwards over and over until it turned over, then they filled the tank and started driving. It sounded like it was running fine too.

I am confused about the timing being off as I thought you had actually diagnosed it to be incorrect. I understand the arcing cdi being the “real” problem but wasn’t the timing actually off?
@jenniesgarageАй бұрын
@jameslarson6555 yes for sure the timing was off, and it wouldn't have run right with the sheared key. My mistake was thinking the sheared key was the only problem.

I’m on catch up a bit, because I’ve NOT been receiving notifications of your uploads despite subbing and having the bell icon on. Look, I know that you must be torn a bit seeing as you made the leap to making more content and are seeing a decrease in numbers. Only you can make that fine tune between work/life but it it makes any difference at all, I’ve been a sub since way at back and the reason I enjoy your content is that you and Jenny are unashamedly YOU and you seem like genuinely nice people tinkering on old tatty bikes. I hope you see an uptick in numbers soon! Love from Manchester in the UK.

I was taught if you decide to replace parts start with the cheapest in the chain. Wiring, adjustments, plug, cap. lead, woodruf key, coil, cdi. I thought you had checked the coil. But I think you would have found it eventually. Well done unseizing the Honda. Why not make an adjustable test-bed frame/jig with fuel tank, coil, switch & maybe even lights, exhaust & guages (people love a tachometer) you could use for all your projects (if needed) audio visual aids & all that stuff.

Try trhis : Halve a spark plug and weld a grease fitting on top of it so the grease can travel thru it. Replace the head and using a grease gun, use the pressure generated to push the piston down. Messy but everything is protected by the grease and a surprising amount of pressure can be created.
@jenniesgarageАй бұрын

After watching Saturday's vid from Edd China and soaking a filthy Range Rover V8 flywheel in Evaporust and it coming out looking like brand new, it makes me wonder if soaking the piston & barrel on the Honda engine would clear out the rust and free up the rings, the more I see that stuff used, the more impressed I am... :)

My Datsun was running really bad after tuning it up, I bought a $430 carburetor on an election year. turns out I'd been driving a car for 13 years that someone had made a Frankenstein distributor for so the only way to have the right rotor phasing is the jam the rotor on in the wrong position.
