Well deserved award, nothing to say, but Colin Firth should have won the BAFTA too for leading actor in Pride&Prejudice, he was absolutely gorgeous and perfect as Mr. Darcy, as he has always been, in so many roles...
@scamrasc9 жыл бұрын
Tamarix well i'd say he did win in the end....the role launched him into superstar status and he's won many baftas/golden globes/oscars etc etc since and become one of the most respected and beloved actors in the world.
@Tamarix6849 жыл бұрын
scamrasc Yes, indeed, but he has one Oscar and he should have won an Academy Award for A Single Man too... And he also deserved more recognition or awards for other very difficult roles (A Month in the Country, Tumbledown, Apartment Zero, Master of the Moor, Trauma, And When Did You Last See Your Father?, The Railway Man, Before I Go To Sleep etc...)
@scamrasc9 жыл бұрын
Tamarix i know he has one oscar - i grouped it in with all the other things he's won too as a collective. tbh some of those projects were sub par. i've always found colin himself to supply a reliably strong performance but a lot of his movies have been some doozy stinkers, and some have been just plain boring or weak (like before i go to sleep for e.g. - strong cast, solid plot....but something still just lacking.). that's not a fault on him, but a fault on the other elements around him, like storytelling/writing/editing/pacing/direction/other performances etc etc, that if any one of or more are weak then it brings the whole thing down. the king's speech was a small little low budget indie film that got everything about it just perfect in the balance - and i think the whole cast just all upped their game as a unit too. everyone was phenomenal. i also think he should have won for a single man too. i'm not a fan of jeff bridges - i've never felt a genuine connection with his acting. it doesn't feel real to me. i feel like i'm watching jeff bridges acting, as opposed to how i feel like i watch colin firth cease being colin firth and *become* king george.....i'm not even sure that makes sense but it's the only way i can describe it....

@i.e.presents6385 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what you’re on about. She has had many wonderful roles. The main difference with P & P was time. In a series you simply have more time. Jennifer Ehle has no interest whatsoever in fame, impressing anyone, or making a ton of money. She likes to do the work and she has. Onstage, in film, on TV, and she has reserved for herself a space in which to have a LIFE, which she knew was critical because of her wildly talented but wise mother. No shame at all. She does the profession credit. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Ehle

@@rossen8384 her mother is the gifted actress Rosemary Harris, who had success both in the UK and the US...so, she had no grand illusions or ambitions. Instead, she took roles that appealed to her: Zero Dark Thirty, The Ides of March and The King's Speech among them. During that time, she married and had a family.
