What is with the obsession with noses in Hollywood? Her nose wasn't even ugly, it was unique but beautiful. It's sad that she felt the need to change it.

Because they place a lot of emphasis on looks. Actresses think that if they don't look perfect, they won't get cast. Heidi Montag said people said she had a Jay Leno face or chin before she got all that surgery. Even Marilyn Monroe had surgery. It was very slight and barely noticeable, but she did get surgery.

I really like what you say on your comment, being honest with her daughter. When I was in my teens, my mother told only one time and I pass it with my own children. The truth is easier to remember than a lie. I really didn't understand at that time what my mother said to me. When you said, we learn and we all have our inner struggles, now I understand what my mother's saying was to me, and I pass it along to my children and they are also passing it on to their children

"Dirty Dancing" might not be the greatest movie ever made, but it has left an indelible mark on millions of those who saw it. I think this is particularly true for Boomers. Most of us turned forty the year the movie was released, and the nostalgia hit hard for a generation seeing its youth in the rearview mirror. The scene that will always stay with me is the way Baby's father hugged her so intensely and emotionally after her big dance moment. It's the same way my father hugged me the first time I came home from college.
@52wbending5212 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Grey does not look unattractive after that nose job, she was just much more striking with her born nose.
@Fingolfin34233 жыл бұрын
Jennifer Grey didn't need to have an operation on her nose. She was an incredibly beautiful woman (and still is). I'm a normal, 36-year old guy who's not into "chick flicks," but for me Dirty Dancing is another golden movie that came out during the 80's. She crosses that fine line of being both beautiful and hot at the same time. Might sound odd, but usually it's one or the other. She did both. It makes you wish you could transport yourself to that camp back in the 60's and dance with her. Every dude wishes he could be Patrick Swayze in that movie, and not because he got all the attention from the ladies, but because he got to be with Jennifer Grey.
@sokodad11 жыл бұрын
She did look better before the surgery, but she said it herself that she didn't have enough belief in herself.

The smile is the same. Only the nose is different. And that was a long time ago. We loved her for the way she was, but she didn't. And it's all okay. Still one of the greatest movies with some of the greatest stars, script, soundtrack. Everything about this film was great. I remember hearing people talking about "Dirty Dancing," and thinking that it wasn't something I'd want to watch. And then I watched it!

Everybody changes ,so what she has changed her appearance, she is still very attractive.Classic movie good job Jen !
@PungiFungi10 жыл бұрын
Paul Bentley , I don't know. The consensus is that with one nose job, she became unrecognizable and it basically put her movie career into a halt. Don't get me wrong, the nose job was done perfectly, but the way she looked AFTER was not the reason movie goers fell in love with her.
@antred1110 жыл бұрын
PungiFungi I'm not really fan of plastic surgery done for cosmetic reasons, but I think I can forgive her one little nose job. It's when people totally disfigure themselves beyond recognition (I'm looking at you, Courteney Cox) that I can't stand.
@PungiFungi10 жыл бұрын
antred11 , Jennifer was beautiful in an "unconventional" way. That what made her stand out....beautiful actresses are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. After the nosejob, she became just another pretty face. Well, at least she's happy with it and looked natural. Most of the Hollywood crowd had such bad jobs done that they are several steps away from looking like that woman in the episode "Skin Deep" from Tales From the Crypt.
@playthosetunes10 жыл бұрын

Her nose made her unique - she had such and interesting face - then she destroyed her career by changing her nose to look just like any other of the millions of pretty girls out there - why did she think she got cast in the movie? Because she had a unique and interesting face, not chocalate-box pretty. I could compare her to Barbara Streisand who is such a beautiful woman with her not-so-common-face, that is what makes her unique and noticeable.
