This is why I LOVE Ms. Holliday so much. Her voice is so DYNAMIC. We love and know her for her crazy powerful voice but the fact that she can TRULY reel it back and take her voice to someplace so intimate and delicate that displays a vulnerability that I think is shocking because we are used to her big and poweful voice, should be recognized as something amazing and stellar.

I wish she had thrown more of this into her career. Sh is such a powerful singer that people forget how delicate her voice can be

I feel if she was marketed as a jazz or blues singer her career would have been better.
@CeliniacForLife2 жыл бұрын
@@remyfacade Her singing R&B had nothing to do with the downward spiral of her career. The label dropped her because they had problems with her weight.
@remyfacade2 жыл бұрын
@@CeliniacForLife that was my point. If she was market as a jazz, blues, or gospel singer her weight would not have been an issue.

@@CeliniacForLife yes, love her albums! and her singing classic R&B, but i love her singing blues and jazz too, shes amazing in that genre as well :)

"The Jennifer Holliday Instrument!" Like snowflakes and fingerprints, no two singers have the exact same tone or style, and their instruments (voices) can never be the same. Jennifer's instrument, interpretations and choices are mesmerizing! Hopefully, somewhere in her career, she will teach voice and mentor budding talent. That gift should be sowed and shared because it is priceless. Too, where is the album, "Holliday on Holiday" or "Jennifer Holliday does Billie Holiday" or "Holliday meets Holiday?" Can you imagine hearing recordings of her interpretations of songs like, "Don't Explain," "I Cover the Waterfront," "Solitude," "My Man," and "The End of a Love Affair?" That would be a "Historic Gem" talked about through the ages to come!
