I “missed” Jennifer in her prime-in fact, I only discovered her 2 months ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of POL including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears. I’m 84 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle. But, Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. And she sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian. She also studied piano and violin at Juilliard. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John, and Brian May-sorry-Sir Brian May, Michael Bolton, and performed live all over the world-but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it. I like the way she prances like a skilled show horse with her long legs, unlike beyonkey to moves like a demented hippo trying to dance, She is pretty much the very best female singer from the 80's, and music and singers have gone down hill a bit since then, but I believe Jennifer has still been performing in about 2014 or thereabouts, but now is about 61 years old? The Power of Love (which she co-wrote as another of her talents) really set her off here in the UK, as I don't think she took off here until she came out with that song in 1985, and still watch it a lot over the years, and even now....I can't resist it, or her, even now...:)

The Power Of Love was the best-selling single of 1985 in Britain. We loved it in this country! But why oh why didn't we give her the credit she deserved for other songs? OK, Ring Of Ice performed reasonably well. (#14 I believe.) But why was stuff like I Come Undone - and, of course, the brilliant and ridiculously catchy Never Say Never - largely ignored? A crying shame....
