Simply the best across the decades - no other female singer can do this with this much genuine emotion. Lyrics are heaven too.

The mid 80s allowed you the opportunity to slow dance at the end of the school disco, with a purple patch of slow power ballad classics like this; such as "move closer", "lady in red", "true colours", "you wanna know what love is..." there wers so many. The 80s were great for the slow power ballad.... end of School Disco. Music doesn't come like this now. Are school discos the same?? Kids have lost that magical moment

you hit it on the head for sure. Summer camp nights at 13 in the 80s, slow dancing with someone to a power balad, with the hot summer night all around.. the smell of the wood, the feeling of being both so adult and so kid-like... hopes for the future, dreams for tomorrow, not knowing what is going to happen... it all brings me to tears. Thank you for posting your comment friend :-)

"Are school discos the same" I think most of them have been replaced with the fashion-show 'Prom' instead, so that the rich girls can show off, so humiliating the poor girls. Tory thinking poisons everything, even school socials.

That brings back memories! Slow dance with Jane… She taught me a lot, and I don’t mean academically 😍😍😛😛👍👍❤️❤️

I “missed” Jennifer in her prime-in fact, I only discovered her 3 months ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of Power of Love including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears. I’m 85 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle. But, Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. And she sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian. She also studied piano and violin at Juilliard. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John, and Brian May-sorry-Sir Brian May, Michael Bolton, and performed live all over the world-but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it. Why is she the best? Effortless high range: (look at Celine’s cover with Jennifer singing “Power of Love” to see the ease with which Jennifer handles the highest notes.) Listen to “Who Wants to Live Forever” (with or without Brian-Sir Brian-May) as well as “Stronghold”, “Another Way”, “Hero of a Fool”, “I Come Undone”, “Now That It’s Over”, and many more. With her operatic training (her father, Maurice Stern (Mauro Lampi) and step-mother Rita Loving), she developed a superior vibrato, appropriate body language, and perfect interpretation, and because she wrote or co-wrote most of her songs, she injects them with a personal load of musical endorphins that hit your ears and your heart at the same time. Yes. If Jennifer had decided to live her life in the US, she would still be in Las Vegas or on tour.

Heidi Stern! My dad used to think she was beautiful. Mind watching the antics when she appeared on totp. Her legs in that short skirt had my dad lusting at the tv whilst my mum would peer over the top of the glasses with a glare that could sour the milk. RIP Dad xx
