Who's ready to adopt the mantra Meet Expectations and Move On? Seriously, so much more time in your day and less stress in general - typically for more recognition and opportunities.

The key is to be indispensable to the company, not the position. Lots of nuance in that.

Girl I got a raise after just 2 weeks of this new mediocre life. Gone are the days of me being the first in the office and last to leave. Gone are working on holidays off to "get ahead". And that knowing when to show up and it's who you know, as well as overworking is golden. I literally watched my co worker brag about "not having enough to do" , because she "kills it" during the week. She got more to do. She's now the catch all staff and now is complaining about having too much to do.

Not sure that it's helped me advance... but I've started working about half as hard at my main job (mostly to work on youtube videos instead) and I've noticed relatively little downside... So I'll count that as winning.

I quit my job. I couldn't be mediocre at any task. I got frustrated. And my boss kept giving me unrealistic deadlines, because I was incredibly fast at the beginning which doesn't mean that all projects can be completed in the same timeframe.

I'm working at this new place only for 2,5 months and I'm already frustrated because I get a lot more tasks to do than my colleague that started working on the same day as me. Not only half of them are reported as urgent, I also get pinged on every single day why some of them weren't reported yet.. Like how many of these tasks are really that urgent 🙄

Thank you so much for this video, something that made me feel better. Bcos I finish up everything on time(even the unimportant ones), I realised my boss thinks I dont have enough work while my peers r chilling out without doing any. N she keeps giving me more assignments meant for others. I work my ass off while i watch others sleeping in office. N I have been feeling very bad for days n no amount of motivation could get me out of it. But now I know. Its not the lack of motivation, bt lowering the motivation that is required. Thanks a ton. 😘

What happens when you have to do other people's jobs in order to do your job well. If I don't have parts easily available I can't pack carts quickly to keep the assembly line running. My receivers tend to bring the parts up from the dock and then place them in overstock on the high racks even if our shooters are empty at ground level. I have complained about this to my boss and his boss but they don't correct the situation. I am sticking these parts even if it isn't my job. Also, I found ways to better meet the customer's packing schedule but it is a variation of the company's job process and they seem to want the job process followed exactly even when it produces poor results. If I fall behind the schedule then they get up-set but don't want to get involved to make sure that schedule is consistently met. In general we are an industrial service company but management seems to take the attitude that service isn't important. I have applied for a transfer to another part of the company but nothing is happening. I do my job extremely well. Thinking of working elsewhere even if I am 4 1/2 years from retirement.

For me it's more that I am sick of doing more and getting less. I produce more, do things above my grade, etc. My reward is not even getting responses when I apply for open roles that I'm oddly good enough to do without the title and pay raise and getting little of any salary increase.
@JenniferBrick

I don't have a choice right now. But I am prioritizing visible goals over background supporting info. And I am being called in as a subject matter expert more often and I am still less than a year here. They knew only part of what they were hiring. Experience wise, I can't put everything on a resume. It would be ten pages long.

I'm trying really hard to get out of this project at work, but it's really important and they refuse to give it to anyone else so I've been prioritizing projects I enjoy. But now, the system is showing that it needs correcting, and I don't really have a choice but to kick this project in to gear on top of the other important projects I'm doing. They have been giving me monetary promotions which is mainly what I care about but I really question if these ""higher ups should be getting paid the bigger bucks if my job is so important.

There's a great Reddit thread on doing things as you are told, rather than as you know they should be done. To failtastic results. One amazing story was a person whose new manager told them to mix fresh concrete into a machine that already had concrete in it. Normally, it needed cleaned between batches. Because it can ruin thousands of dollars of material and break the machine. The experienced employee explained this to the new manager. The manager called them lazy and stupid, and told them to just do as they are told. Well the machine broke, all the materials ruined, and their production line was set back a week. I loved the story because sometimes you just have to let the world burn to show them that they're wrong, not you.

My question on the "perfectionism" side of business. Would you have a take on why young twenty somethings can make mistakes yet as people get older they can at times be micro 👀 and if they make the same mistake can find themselves without the basic position (mind you they have no authority and in some cases managers who do not communicate much hence the person is isolated). Put another way, if a manager points something out that is perfectionism and you are playing full out is a response like, "I'm human or I'll do better next time" acceptable OR Are the higher ups looking at things in a way that no words will make a simple situation look better in their eyes?

I disagree. I find as a software programmer, I just end up doing other team members work because they either messed it up or could never even attempt whatever it is. The managers will sigh to me that they can't count on X to do Y, but X will not pay any consequences, in fact,, X might make more and have an easier job.
