Yup we’ve been told that all our lives here. Made to go outside regardless of how bad the weather was when we where kids and if we complained we where always told that saying. ”There’s no bad weather, just bad clothing”, allthough it sounds a lot better in swedish. 😀 I didn’t like it then but I do now as an adult, and one day I will - hopefully - get to say that to my own kids. And the saying IS true. You can have so much fun in rain and snow if your suitably dressed. Oh and I like your videos, keep it up! 🇸🇪🙋🏼‍♂️👍

Nygrens café in Alingsås is, in my opinion, the nicest one in this little town. And there are a lot or cafés there. Nygrens café has also a very good reputation far outside Alingsås. I live west of Gothenburg, approx. 1,5 hours from Alingsås, and a trip to Nygrens is so worth it. The interior with the old mixed furniture combined with newly baked cookies, kanelbullar and cakes is so cozy and relaxed compared to a modern café in Gothenburg city.

You are a lake hunter ☺️ They call Finland The Country of Thousand Lakes (De tusen sjøers land), but Sweden actually have more lakes than Finland. Maybe the Country of Two Thousand Lakes 😂 I am a Norwegian having a cottage by another lake, and in your videos you really catch what is unique in having an old, red, simple cottage (torp or stuga) in Sweden. We are not that far away from each other, and if you would like to go mushroom hunting together later this year, I would love to meet you in a forest, by any lake. Anyway, keep up producing beautiful videos. When the lockdown is over again.

In Brisbane, Queensland, Australia the saying ‘no such thing as bad weather, just unsuitable clothing’ couldn’t really apply here because it is soooooo HOT and HUMID for at least 6 months of the year that even if you walked around naked you’d still be sweating like a pig and get cooked alive from the scorching sun - as does all the vegetation... if it’s not burnt to a cinder then it’s brown and dead for months on end... you are unbelievably lucky to have a home in the northern hemisphere, especially in Scandinavia which is just breathtakingly beautiful with it’s short summers and 4 seasons - in Brisbane we only have HOT and Humid and not so hot... I especially stayed in Europe for 6 months to escape our neverending, relentless, hot, humid summers so I could experience a real Autumn and a real winter, I LOOOOOOVED it soooo much I cried buckets when I had to come back to Australia and was sooooo sad for at least 12 months afterwards because I would soooo love to live in Europe...

I have Swedish heritage, as well as Norwegian. My favorite part of your video is when you are walking through the water, stating that your grandmother grew up there. It was timeless...like a walk through a cemetary. Just breathtaking. (I'm measuring my life!) And by the way...how was that blueberry??

The lingonberries you saw could actually be Mjölon or Mjölbär in Swedish , I think they are called Bearberries in English.

I tried to look online, but I really couldn’t work it out, I also some saw some other type of berries which were more yellow and in groups, but I didn’t know what those were either! Hopefully by the end of next summer, I will know a lot more!

Ask any neighbor and they will help you to recognize lingon. It looked very much like lingon in your video.

Hey Jennifer. I’d love to buy a holiday home in Sweden. What would you say are good agent portals (like Rightmove) in Sweden? Who did you buy your cottage through?

www.hemnet.se look for "fritidsboenden". Some places can be very cheap, mostly in northern Sweden. Good luck.

What Krister said - but remember that they already have snow in northern Sweden, when you’re looking for a dream home!

Very pretty scenery! What kind of wildlife do you have in Sweden? And are you allowed to fish in the lakes there?
@JenniferCarterWriter
@JenniferCarterWriter 4 жыл бұрын
There’s so much wildlife. I’m not into fishing so much myself, but I think it’s easy enough to get permission, if you need it. If anyone knows different, please comment below

@@JenniferCarterWriter Thank you!! Was just curious as to if it was allowed. So you have bears and wild big cats like mountain lions?

I don’t think there are bears or wolverines this far south, but there are beavers and elk. Apparently near Stockholm there are lynx too

@@JenniferCarterWriter I live close to Mora, the county ( landskap) of Dalarna. For fishing both lokals, and turist first need "fiskekort" that is a lokal fee. For one day, one week or one year ( a year cost about 500 SEK). Then you are allowed to catch wild fish for that lokal area. In addition there can be " put and take lakes" with planted fish, where there is a day fee ( dagkort ) of about 100 SEK. As a fisherman, you are responsible for knowing the geograhical area you are on, and to pay. And if you cross over to another Lokal " (fiske vårds område)" area. For streem fishing, there are addeded lokal restrictions. Turist office or lokal " (fiskevårds område) " have the information. Thank you Jennifer, for showing Sweden in such beautiful, way. And thank you, for coming here. And Yes, it was lingon. The lingon berry os white yellow, before they go red. The month of July was very cold this year, so maybe some of them where little babies ?? It´s possible to pick them from august, but most common september, and until the snow come. They are bitter, and need sugar if you make " sylt". If you make " saft" they can have some lemon to take the bitter of. Good luck next time !! The berries are free to pick, according to " allemans lagen ". The law for every body, to use nature.

Love your videos! One small suggestion, just my opinion, but maybe consider getting rid of the music. I don't think it really adds much and the sound of the environment would be so nice to hear.
