One tip is to get a professional inspection. They’ll be able to tell you what the problems are (no houses are entirely problem free) and even if there are no serious problems they can tell you what the potential issues might be in time and what kind of renovations you might want to do in the future. Yes, it will cost you but it’s great to get the document with full details. The real estate agent can usually set you up with a good local inspector.

WINTERS Sweden's proximity to the North Atlantic and prevailing south-westerly to westerly winds result in a climate that is mild in the winter months, but the northernmost part of the country has a sub-Arctic climate with long, cold and snowy winters. Dark. SUMMERS Temperature: The temperature during summer in Sweden ranges between 11°C and 23°C. Weather: The summer in Sweden is nothing short of magical with 24 hours of sunlight in a day. Difficult to get to sleep unless you use block out curtains.

from my experience, even in the cold winter with snow on the ground- as long as the sun is shining , it will heat up the sun room and then can also help to warm up the rest of the home . i build a green room enclosing the front door snd 2 windows and i run ventilators in the windows . during the day I can reverse them and send hbf warmed air from the sunroom into the house .

God hasn’t given us the spirit of fear but He has given us the spirit of love, spirit of power and the spirit of a sound mind. In the Bible the word “don’t fear “ is written 365 times. God is saying for each day “don’t fear “!!!! ❤

The buyer has an absolute investigation responsibility for things that can be seen during an extensive inspection. Therefore when people buy a house in Sweden they always normally hire a building inspector that looks at everything that you might miss. He also usually have an insurance if he/she miss something. The cost is a 5-15000 SEK depending on where the house is and how big it is. The result is also a useful tool for haggling the price Consider that you can basically go anywhere you want and pick berries and mushrooms. And if you like fishing it is usually very cheap unless in certain places, like 200 SEK for a year. No hunting though or cutting down trees unless its on your property

This doesn't happen " only in Sweden" at all. It actually happens in any country to be able to purchase a house, even very big, for almost nothing. It depends on many factors like the impossibility to live there alone and safe, to mention one. The big majority of houses in Sweden also have asbestos, you forgot to mention that too😢

I am from Northern Ireland, lived and worked in North Goteburg for a while 5 years ago. Currently going through a Divorce with my English Wife and seriously considering moving back to Sweden permantly. I have both a British and an Irish Passport. a question though regarding this. If a foreigner buys multiple properties in Sweden will that force the prices up as per France and Spain?

I think a lot of people would have to make that decision for it to affect the marketplace, there are so many small cottages available right across Sweden!

That thing with generations living together, but in separate houses, is an old swedish thing. On most farms in Sweden, there is a cottage, situated a bit apart, that is the "exception" cottage where mom and dad are living on "exception", it is not part of the farm but still there.

Hi Jennifer, I’m saving up to buy a house in the Swedish countryside. Can you recommend any estate agents who are familiar with foreigners aspiring to become a homeowner in Sweden? I’m a non Swedish resident EU citizen. Hence, I don’t have a personnummer or BankID. How did you succeed? Congratulations and thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

It’s about a 90 minute drive from Göteborg Landvetter airport. You can only live there year round if you are an EU citizen, I believe

@@JenniferCarterWriter What I ment was year around if it is registered as a cabin or vacation house. You also need to get a social security number/or right Visa in the country you should live in -if year around. :)
