Ribbon is very expensive and I am very frugal, just hate waste on many levels. I actually cut the angles in the ribbon with the initial cut so I am not trimming angles after the bow/ ribbon is done. They are already done and I have saved several inches of ribbon. Hope I explained it well enough. Love your decorating style, Jennifer.

It’s very easy to save ribbons and bows. It just takes time. And I have always placed good tissue paper around it before saving into dry cleaning bags or plastic bags that close. I’m like you, I’ve always been a bit frugal. Plus my arthritis in my thumbs, is worse for making the fancy bows I like.

Very designer. Personally my Christmas tree is a hodge podge of decorations accumulated over the years, including decorations my children made. Like a match box covered by Christmas wrapping paper made by my daughter when she was 6 yrs old. A pine cone with paint and sparkles made by my son when he was around the same age. That was over 40 yrs ago. The decorations are a bit tatty to say the least but I wouldn’t part with them. Now my grandchildren are making a decorations for Nana.

Beautiful! I have been banned from every high end ribbon store by my husband. He used to let me buy it. No question, but then he started realizing that I never used it. I keep it stored in high quality plastic bins with quality paper surrounding my ribbons. He asked me one day why I never use my ribbon and all I could say was it's so pretty I don't want to use it. So now he's put a kibosh on the ribbon buying. I have ribbon that cost me over $115 a yard. It sure would look beautiful in a tree like that!

Oh, I SO understand. But, here is a trick I have - if I have a ribbon cut, that I wish was long and I have two pieces - then I wire them together and hit the pieces I have put together behind a loop! Or you could hot glue the pieces together!

I thought it was called, "dove tail". 🤷🏽‍♀️ I feel like you have to have a fake tree to do these. You can't bend real branches around the ribbon. Pretty though.
