This is one of the songs they used to sing in the beginning of the group when Mykal was a member. Imagine hearing this from 4 young guys standing on a street corner or in front of a business as you're walking or going by in your car.

I had been hoping that VoicePlay would cover "Stand By Me" eventually and then they did. Layne did a great job arranging it. Mykal was the perfect collaborator for this one. Apparently Layne, Geoff, Earl, and Mykal sang this song together when they were teenagers. A lovely song with a beautiful message about true friendship.

You mentioned Geoff's shirt, in the BTS I noticed someone (likely Kathy) had clothespinned it in the back so it didn't like he was swimming in it (clearly he's not one to bother tailoring clothes, he's too down to earth and not vain enough! He probably just buys it to fit the shoulders and let the rest bag! LOL) Anyway, I absolutely LOVE this one, which is kind of amazing because I've never liked it before now (it was so old and overplayed) but their treatment was so refreshing! I love Mykal and his beautiful round tone, and the runs? OMG! I really love the places where they do some harmonized runs with him...spectacular! The thing I love MOST about this (aside from the musicality of how they sing it) is the love you feel PALPABLY from them for each other! How can anyone not love these guys? Why aren't they winning Grammys for their splendid music...they are better than 99% of the people winning them!! You know what it is? Not being owned by a label. What a shame. It's also the reason why they're not getting any radio play. They probably don't even bother sending their music to any stations, but I wish they did!!!
