Geoff Castellucci, the bass singer as well as the arranger of this piece, has often said if you aren't going to change things up, then why wouldn't you just listen to the original? VoicePlay is amazing at making a song their own, while still maintaining the heart of the original, and they are terrific innovators. I'm pretty certain that they are the most creative a cappella group out there right now; they do things no other a cappella groups do, and they do it all masterfully.

"completely new genre" - appropriately dubbed in the video comments as "Metallicapella". three things of note to answer some of your queries.... Geoff (the bass singer) uses a vocal technique called subharmonics: the outro over the patron list is the karaoke version (a perk for patrons at a certain tier level and above): the funny frog noise was the beat boxer (i believe he is inhaling on the word "woah")

Loved your reaction. This one was arranged by Geoff Castellucci, the bass. They have a habit of changing rhythms and moods - they've said that imitating what's already been done well makes no sense, they only cover a song if they think they can bring something new. They literally listen to every version they can find before they start arranging to make sure that their idea is fresh and worth doing. Hope to see you reacting to more - they do pretty much every genre imaginable, and always with top flight quality.

All singers have more than 3 octaves, Geoff has 5+. All 3 acapella groups are fast friends and help each other. Welcome to the wonderful world of VoicePlay. They are amazing and my favorite of the acapella groups. VoicePlay takes songs and makes them their own. Geoff Castellucci (the bass) has a 5-octave range. He also has his own channel (not acapella). VoicePlay are known as the 'theater kids' of acapella, and after watching several of their videos, you will understand why. I have subscribed to hopefully see more VoicePlay & Geoff reactions. For VoicePlay, I would recommend: "Dream On", "Seven Nation Army", "Black Hole Sun", "In the Air Tonight", "Hoist the Colors", "Be Prepared", "Stand By Me" & "Valhalla Calling" (my favorite). They have an extensive library, so whatever you choose, you can't go wrong. For Geoff, I would recommend: "Ain't No Sunshine", "16-Ton", "Jack's Lament", "Unshaken" and he did a LOTR/Hobbit trilogy that is good. He often "Clones" himself in his videos. Enjoy the rabbit hole...

Thank you so much, Patti and welcome to the channel! Most of all thank you for giving me clear names of songs and whether it's VoicePlay or Geoff singing them! More importantly, for not putting me in a box and recommending only Dream On. ❤️❤️❤️ I am a Metallica fan, but I listen to almost all music genres, as long as the performance is good. You've listed so many excellent choices and then a few I've never heard of. Seems like with VoicePlay I should expect quite a few songs that are entirely new to me, so that should make it even more fun. On top of all that I am also a huge fan of LOTR (book and movie trilogy) and The Hobbit (book, but not the movies, though the music in this abomination of a trilogy is great).

Welcome to the Theater Kids of Acapella!! You'll love it here in the rabbit hole. Geoff Castellucci, the bass, has broken several reactors. He has a channel of his own where he does some of the best solo work I've ever heard. Layne Stein, the beatboxer, also sings bass/baritone and is also insanely talented. Eli Jacobsen (elly, not ee-lie) is the tenor with the high voice and no hair. He does a lot of their videos as well as some arranging. J None was previously a member but is currently serving in the Navy as a singer. They do most of their own work - arranging, costumes, videography, and sound. Being independent means they can do what they want when they want to do it. Enjoy!

Welcome to the rabbit hole 😊 Voiceplay is epic for sure. They're independent and do everything themselves. They do everything from Disney to Metallica. Thank you and glad to have you there with me! 😊 Did not know they're independent, but I really like that. Not a fan of getting over-promoted music shoved down my throat, hence the start of this channel in the first place. Thank you for your honest reaction! These guys can really throw you for a loop, right? 😄 One of the things I love most about VoicePlay is that they keep the spirit of the original song, but dare to go in new and fascinating directions, whether with the vocals, or shifting the style / genre, or going all-out with acting and costumes - like you said, it's never just a copy. It's a different version, a re-imagining, and that takes a lot of courage when you're dealing with famous and beloved songs. All of the members have huge vocal ranges, so no person sticks to one single "role" and the group itself covers a huge variety of genres. Just pick whatever song you're curious about, keep an open mind, and enjoy! They're 100% independent and do almost everything themselves: lighting, camera work, costumes for their more theatrical videos,set design, and of course the arrangement itself. No boss, no PR machine, no big label to pay bills (that's where the Patreons come in) and give orders. Their production manager is Kathy Castellucci, the wife of the bass singer, and the studio where they're filming a good amount of their videos is owned by the vocal percussionist Layne Stein (the gentleman with the electric violin) and Tony Wakim, their former baritone who now does an invaluable job behind the camera / scenes.

Thank you so much for the details! Sounds like there will be less serious stuff out there, which is a good change for me - I've been listening to very serious stuff most of the time. 😊 Having read it all, of course it's all run by a woman 🤣🤣🤣 We rock! No, I'm not a crazed feminist, I just like organizing things like most women do. 😉

@@AleksReacts When Geoff talks about "[his] boss", we all know who he means. 😆 But he just melts whenever he looks at her, so you know he loves and appreciates her. All the guys can be silly and prank each other, but they're also close friends and professional colleagues, so they know when it's time to focus and listen to whoever is in charge of the project - usually Layne and Geoff take turns. If you want to enjoy one of Geoff's arrangements for Voice Play that is hilarious but still super impressive, I recommend "Drunken Sailor". "Thriller" is more spooky but also has some very funny parts, with great costumes and make-up. Their Disney covers like "Be Prepared", "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and "Friends on the Other Side" are extremely well done and just as enjoyable for adults. And if you're looking for more songs that make you go "!!!", definitely listen to "Valhalla Calling" (not funny, but BADASS and epic). Geoff's solo channel is another treasure trove entirely... EDIT: Whoops, I wasn't aware you've already gotten "assignments", or I wouldn't have made recommendations. No pressure, these are just ideas, not expectations from me. 😄

This is a song that almost didn't happen. With all the setbacks it had and J None's schedule problems. I'm glad it finally worked out and like you said it is epic. To give you a little deeper introduction to the group will start with Geoff Castellucci base singer, founding member of Voiceplay, and arranged this song. He has an impressive 5 octave range (yes he implements Tibetan Throat Singing, along with Subharmonics and other techniques) J None Baritone/Tenor joined Voiceplay in 2017 (sorry if its the wrong year not the best with dates). Left Voiceplay to join the Navy were he is currently singing base. A lot of fans hope he'll rejoin Voiceplay after his time in the service is over. Tell then he returns whenever he gets a chance. Eli (rhymes with jelly) Jacobson Rock Tenor joined Voiceplay in 2012 ( again sorry if its the wrong year). He was a member of another band where he sang Rock. He is also a voice actor and does most of the lighting. He also does some of the arrangements. Cesar De La Rosa Baritone/Tenor is their newest member and brings a Sassy attitude thats can leave you in laughing so hard you begin crying, but has a gentle heart that will pull your heartstrings. Layne Stein beatboxer/Baritone/violinist (aka VioLyne) founding member of Voiceplay. He was originally the groups Baritone, but in the early years of Voiceplay when their beatboxer left to pursue an acting career he stepped up learned hiw to beatbox and the rest is history. He also is co owner of Patty Cake Productions were most of Voiceplay's videos are filmed. He does about half the arrangements. He has also been playing the Violin since he was 4. And is known as a prankster earning various nicknames. Hope this gives a little more insight into Voiceplay (they are bases in Orlando Florida). If you have any more questions just ask. Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

He is not only a incredible bass singer (although he always says he is a Bariton with a bass range) but also a great Arrangeur. For me he is just a wizard of music. Same with Layne the beatboxer. He is so good in beatboxing but also has a beautiful voice. There are some songs completely without beatboxing and Layne singing. Just take a deep dive into their channel. I fell in love with this when it came out 2 yrs ago. The guys from the left - Geoff (bass), J None (used to be a member when he got recruited hard by the US Navy for their chorus. He comes down from Wash DC as often as he can to continue to sing with them), Eli (high tenor aka Rock God since before he joined them in 2010 he was in rock bands), Cesar came on when J None went into the Navy and Earl had left the group for personal reasons after 23 yrs and VoicePlay needed the right voice and Cesar is great in both baritone and high tenor, and then there is Layne (started as baritone, took up beatboxing when their beatboxer Scott Porter left for Hollywood) aka both as Carrot Lord and VioLayne. Both Geoff and Layne have been members since middle and high school but when they graduated the group of 4 (Geoff, Layne, Earl, Mykal) became 4:2:Five in 1997 when they got Scott. In 2006 they became VoicePlay which is a superb name for them. Geoff also has his own channel (not a capella - he saves that for VP) since covid came on the scene and generally cuts one a month and VoicePlay usually has 1 per month of full video plus 2 or 3 shorts/or minis. They are located in Orlando and nearly all members have performed at Disney World as well as Universal. They have chosen to do all of the work involved with these videos themselves without having contracts and managers (except for Geoff's wife who is the production manager) and Tony (VP baritone a few yrs back) wanted to get into productions so Layne and Tony bought Pattycake Production Studio where most of VoicePlay and Geoff do their videos. Geoff and Layne would take turns on each project: arranging, staging, costumes, props, makeup, premix audio, camera work. Ed Boyer is the final mix for most of the top a capella groups. Eli has started being in the mix for projects, recently Creep (Radiohead).

You just happened to start from one of the few songs where it doesn't shine so much. 🙂 I understand you already have "assignments", so I won't suggest any of their videos. I'll limit myself to confirm that they usually take any song they cover and make it their own, still paying the due respect to the original, but never "copying" it. It's one of the things I love more of their "covering" style, and saying that they cover such a variety of genres that it's difficult to pick one they never tried 🙂. They're also known for their theatricals, to the point that they're nicknamed "the theatre kids of a cappella", and love to go all in with costumes, stenographies, make up and so on. Enjoy the journey and keep your openness. You're in for a ride... For me VoicePlay is the best a cappella group around, Geoff Castellucci, who writes almost all the arrangements, more than a bass is the so-called "basso profondo" (remember the Commendatore in Mozart's Don Giovanni?), basically he is at the end of the piano keyboard and even something more.😱 The great thing is that when he goes up in the register he sings like a tenor. And anyway their productions are always top notch. PS: I agree with you about the last "good" Metallica album.
@AleksReactsКүн бұрын
I really do like all of the "top 3" a cappella groups so far, though I'm yet to hear more by VoicePlay. All three are really good and all three appeal to me personally. Each seem to have their own style and even their names tell us a bit about it. Pentatonix - formal name, serious, as are their arrangements and performances, honed and practiced to perfection including their movements. Home Free - far more relaxed, somewhat humorous. Pretty much the name says they sing what they like. VoicePlay - I haven't seen it yet, but it seems like they play around a lot, with costumes and jokes, hence the "play" in VoicePlay. Now, Geoff Castellucci does seem to be the "weirdest" bass I've heard so far. Knowing your musical background, I'm sure you know better than I do as to why it feels that way. I only know it does. Never would have pegged you for a Metallica fan, but I'm very glad you are and that we agree on where the "true" Metallica ends and the "show" begins.

I'm not really a Metallica fan but I have a "few" rock records, including Metallica. Actually, I was born a "rocker", then I "got sick" and grew up a "jazzer" and then "getting worse" I became a "popper". 😆Jokes aside, having many years behind me I have seen the birth and evolution of almost all the musical genres that are listened to today so, as a music enthusiast and practitioner, over the decades I have bought vinyl and CDs of groups/singers of any musical genre (even if I don't like the classification) as long as it was "good music", according to my tastes. As for Geoff, he is certainly gifted from birth, no one can choose their voice (it's like fingerprints) so even though he has the extension of the bass towards the top he also has a greater extension in the low register mainly for two reasons: vocal cords (longer and thicker) and a large chest volume (resonance box for low sounds); but it's not enough, he then need to use singing techniques and study to be able to go even further down the stave. 😲Evidently I have a preference for low voices, not by chance my musical instruments play in that register.

Voiceplay is an extremely talented group of guys. At present there are only four members so they feature various artists for the 5th spot. They are known as both The Theater Kids of Acapella and The Kings of Halloween because of their love of dressing up and performing. They are independent so they do everything themselves from concept to public and beyond. Except intricate makeup, cameras and audio mixing. This video earned it a new genre Metallicapella.. Left to right.... Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci - bass, arrangements (he did this one). J None - feature, former member, baritone. Eli (el lee) Jacobson - tenor, rock tenor, lighting, arrangements. Cesar De La Rosa - baritone, tenor. Layne Stein - beatboxer, baritone, arrangements. Voiceplay has a ton of amazing videos to choose from. They've done just about any genre you can think of and probably some you haven't. Extremely talented in everything they do. They also have a bunch of shorts/minis videos that are awesome as well. They usually film these in the Oviedo Mall in Orlando FL where Layne's studio, Pattycake Productions is located. Also where they film most of their videos. Geoff Castellucci has his own Solo channel as well where he uses Instruments and sound effects. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies and background. Each with their own name and range. Super low to super high. He also has a ton of amazing videos to choose from. Welcome to Voiceplay and hopefully Geoff Castellucci rabbit holes 🐰🐰

Welcome to the VoicePlay rabbithole. I loved your reaction! From left to right: Geoff Castellucci (who arranged this cover,) guest and former member J.None, Eli Jacobson (who used to sing metal--the fans call him the group's Rock God), Cesar De La Rosa, and Layne 'VioLayne' Stein, who also does many of their arrangements and only breaks out the fiddle for special occasions. 😄 As another commenter noted, many of their performances are a little more on the humorous or upbeat side, but I consider this one of their masterpieces and an excellent introduction to what VoicePlay can do. Liked and subscribed, I would love to see you react to more VoicePlay (and Geoff in his solo channel!)

I am not sure if I've seen you before, though the handle rings a bell (or is similar to a familiar one)... In any case, if you're totally new to the channel - a big welcome to you! ❤️ Now, I got some guidance on these guys, but I thought if they're covering one of my favorite bands they'll either live or die with me, so I thought I'd dive in. They did not disappoint, so the exploration will continue! Thanks for telling me their names for a start. Eli's voice did feel best suited for this song, especially when his power showed and I am currently most impressed by him, Geoff and whoever did this insane arrangement (sounds like that's Geoff again). It also sounds like I might still be in for a surprise as there was nothing humorous about this one and you're the second person who's telling me that's their usual thing. Will I like humor over "epicness". Can't tell you yet, but I will find out. 😉

You are correct... VoicePlay doesn't do 'copies'. They take a song and interpret it their way. As a group, and individually, they believe that if they simply cover a song without putting their unique spin on it, what's the point? If they don't change and reinterpret a song, its not VoicePlay!

Somehow I missed this one when you reacted to it. It's been a busy few weeks, so that is probably why. I'm glad you enjoy VoicePlay. I am one of those who loves each of the "big three" acapella groups for different reasons. Since 2020, I feel that VoicePlay's production has gotten much more full (they changed their concentration from arrangements that could be performed live to using multi-tracking more for fullness of sound). I think you got many fine suggestions for songs. I haven't read all of the suggestions yet, but I figured I would throw a few in the mix that IU hadn't yet seen in my perusal. I would like to suggest "I Can't Make You Love Me" for emotional impact, and "We Don't Talk About Bruno" for a healthy dose of fun. I am enjoying all branches of your acapella journey.

Yes, the difference between the violin and the fiddle is just how you play it. If you're playing the Prelude Partita #3 in E, it's a violin. If you're playing Turkey in the Straw, it's a fiddle. The physical instrument is the same. The "really big frog" you heard, is a beat-boxing technique called "ingressive phonation". In the video, you don't see Layne doing it, because at that point in the video he's focused on playing the instrument (which, for the audio track, was no doubt recorded separately). However, you can see him doing a very similar thing in the Enemy video. And yeah, VoicePlay's covers are always original arrangements.

"Not saying it's the best, just saying it's so weird" Honestly, that's Voiceplay in a nutshell: they always take the songs and make them their own, they always change it around a bit, and they are bold and fearless in doing so. Very often this works magnificently, because they can (and do) do things that the original doesn't, that you can only hear from an acapella group... but just as often, fans of the original will wonder what to feel about it! Nearly everyone who is new to Voiceplay has that sensation of "I don't know if I like this!", and I think that's because we like and are accustomed to the original. This is a natural reaction, though; humans are primed to find patterns and stick with them. Familiarity is comfortable, and isn't it normal to desire comfort? But once you break free of that (it does not take long; it feels like you already have, to be honest) you can openly embrace the fun that Voiceplay is having and really let them sing. Yes, they did do Aerosmith, and yes, that one is also awesome; might want to check it out~
@AleksReacts4 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment! ❤️❤️❤️ Yes, it is very natural for us humans to stick to the familiar where we feel comfortable. As you said, at first I wasn't sure and it really did keep overlapping with the original in my head, but it's both different and yet not so different to break that feeling of familiarity once you "get into it". I do plan to check out way more by VoicePlay, though I think I'll go in a totally different direction first. Adding all suggestions to my list, so their version of Aerosmith goes up there too. Thanks again!

I love them, even though you chose one of their less funny, less exuberant performances, one that’s closer to what other a cappella bands do. Usually, VoicePlay play. They perform in costumes, in extravagant settings, with humorous staging… and that’s what I love the most. Otherwise, it feels rather sad (to me). As for Geoff Castellucci, whom I consider a sort of inverse Dimash (the incredible bass), he didn’t even give a tenth of what he’s usually capable of. Whether with the group or solo, he often goes lower than what a piano can produce (just as Dimash reaches higher). To me, Geoff is the diamond of the group, a truly unique singer. His solos (actually, not real solos since he sings multiplied) are fascinating : Misty Mountains Cold, House of the Rising Sun, Ain’t No Sunshine, Sixteen Tons… He's my hero. But here, he was nowhere to be found. As for the arrangement, I have no reference to judge it (I don’t even know what Metallica is). That said, I did enjoy the finale with the violin. That was the only fun part. Yeah, I'm a funny guy !
@AleksReacts8 күн бұрын
Thank you for testing the waters with me even though this is not exactly what you love them for. I appreciate that! Oh, the arrangement here is amazing as I'd assume most if not all Metallica fans will tell you! This is a masterpiece in fact! Yes, it's all familiar, but it sounds like an entirely new song and they did a great job. I heartily recommend that you listen to the original i.e. Metallica - Nothing Else Matters. It's beautiful in own right as even Elton John stated once that it's one of the greatest songs ever written. I think he was being nice and personally disagree with that assessment, but I doubt he'd be "so nice" as to call a bad song great. 😉 It's not amazing, but it is good and James' voice is nothing like these... I can tell that Geoff Castellucci is in a league of his own simply by hearing a few notes - they don't sound human at all. I had to go with this one, but all the songs you've just listed I both know and love, so I'll certainly keep exploring these guys as a group or Geoff Castellucci solo(ish).

@@AleksReacts OK, I just watched (and listened to) Metallica. Beyond the simple fact that it’s obviously not my cup of tea, this alien experience prompts me to give you a brief summary of my "musical life" in order to clarify where I place what I would generically call "groups of young people in the American or British style with drums and electric guitars." I was born into a family where my mother was a concert pianist specializing in Chopin, Beethoven and those kinds of music dripping with romanticism, while my father was a financial director. My mother listened exclusively to this romantic music, and my father listened to no music at all. So, I took refuge in baroque, my lifelong love. Leaving my family at 17 (in '66) to study cinema in Paris, I discovered the world and added to my collection of baroque records some jazz (Coltrane, Parker, Mingus, etc.) and Indian classical music (Ali Akbar Khan, the Dagar Brothers, etc.), which I also fell in love with, permanently. Then, in the early '70s, a brief interlude of two or three years opened up, including a few "groups of young people in the American or British style with drums and electric guitars." IMO, these Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd or King Crimson types were infinitely more inspired at the time than their later replicas. Nevertheless, I turned that musical page definitively around '75 and plunged back into baroque. In the '80s, I followed mainly the repetitive music of Philip Glass and Steve Reich or minimalists like Michael Nyman. The '90s and 2000s saw the triumphant return of baroque and Indian music, as the contemporary chapter had closed in turn. It was only in the 2010s that I started to take an interest in a domain I had previously ignored entirely : songs. But, as you may have noticed, not on the Western side. On the Eastern side. Already long fascinated by Indian vocal Dhrupad, Indo-Pakistani Qawwali, and Japanese and Korean traditions, I then immersed myself in everything happening in the Eastern half of our cosmic billiard ball. The West… I had been born there, grown up there, lived there... and I’d had enough. Western singers... I didn’t know them, I didn’t listen to them, but… I inevitably heard them everywhere. And frankly, I didn’t like it. American singers are especially unbearable to me, just like American culture as a whole, with very few exceptions. Three special cases : jazz and crooner songs, which I’ve always appreciated despite their excessively Western origin ; traditional or religious European chants, among which I acknowledge there are a few gems ; and, on the other hand, French songs, which I dislike more than anything else including American singers. As for the "young people in the American or British style with drums and electric guitars," they only seem to me like pale copies of the original hippies whom I had long ceased to care about, for over half a century now. I’m done with them. Once I’ve gotten rid of something, be it tobacco or rock, there is no longer any desire in me to go back. Naturally, this story is reduced to its bare bones here. I did take quite a few detours, and the range of my musical loves was much broader than this. But the point of this digest was simply to give an idea of how I see "young people with guitars" (BTW, their Eastern equivalents fare no better with me). I know these "young people with guitars" and American pop singers are a cardinal attraction for most people, and this is why I felt it was useful to clarify my stance on them.

Just watched this again and I’m not sure if anyone answered your question. But from my understanding the only difference between a fiddle and violin is the type of music played, where a fiddle is more casual and used a lot in country songs for example. I’ve heard it said that a violin has strings and a fiddle has strangs. 😂

“Never would have connected this voice with this guy”. That’s Eli ( pronounced like jelly without the J). He can go crazy high. Geoff Castellucci has solo stuff out too - check some of that out. He does four and five part harmony but he sings all the parts. Because that’s the kind of range he has. His tenor range is beautiful. I’d recommend Valhalla Calling for another VoicePlay reaction. Both Geoff and Eli show off more there. You’ll hear Geoff growling really deep and Eli cutting loose with the high metal rock voice. Yes, they did Dream On. It rocks. I’d also point you towards their covers of Seven Nation Army Thriller Creep The Way You Make Me Feel In The Air Tonight What you said about them changing the song into something new - yes. That’s their goal. They won’t touch a song unless they can do something new with it. Geoff is like “the original has already been done”. They do their own arrangements. It’s usually Geoff (bass) or Layne (beatboxer) but Eli is starting to do them too.

I'm guessing you've had a chance to watch your own reaction to Geoff Castellucci's bass singing while you were editing this - it was a classic reaction for someone who's never heard him before, and had no idea that a human could make some of those sounds he seems to create effortlessly. And here's the kicker - Geoff doesn't consider himself a bass singer, he calls himself a "baritone with a good bass extension!" For the really low notes, Geoff uses a technique called subharmonics to produce those notes, which entails him singing the note an octave above where the final note will be, but using vocal fry in a specific manner that creates a "harmonic" of the note he is singing that is exactly one octave below that note. So when he wants to sing a B1, for example, the note he actually sings is a B2, but using vocal fry to create a harmonic of the note so that what you actually hear is that B1. Using this technique, he has reached down to a B0 in at least two of VoicePlay's songs. His lower limit in chest voice is around an F1-F#1 these days, but he has been able to hit a G1 consistently for several years - and still doesn't consider himself a bass!

OK, today I'll be totally honest without anyone having to ask for it. I'm writing this ahead of watching your reaction: There are certain songs and bands I feel quite an aversion to, Nothing Else Matters and Metallica in general are one of those, or Depeche Mode and Personal Jesus another one. So for example it would never come to my mind to watch Diana Ankudinova's cover of the latter song for my pleasure. She did good on it, I don't like it much. It's clearly more tolerable than the original because I love Diana and her voice, but I'd rather listen to any other of her songs than that one... Nothing Else Matters is a similar case, though there are some covers I've actually listened to more than once, Mon Laferte (one of my all time favorite artists, second mention) did a cover in Spanish with a dark Latin vibe which is actually great, and Postmodern Jukebox have a cover with an only 15 years old vocalist and they are doing it in a vintage jazz style, that's quite a thing as well, but the song itself? Naw for me, at least not the way Metallica play it... So, rather because it's you than because of VoicePlay, not to speak of the song, I'll give it a try... (...) - Oh, really you actually like Metallica? I'd never have thought that and I'm kind of shocked... how? - The cover to me is boring so far... - well, sorry I'm leaving after two and a half minutes, this sucks... See you on the next one...

I LOVE THIS COMMENT! All of it, top to bottom! ❤️❤️❤️ In Metallica's defense, this is definitely not one of their best songs. It was so annoying when it came out because everyone played it, everywhere. Still, I am a fan of the band (a HUGE fan). So huge, that I've only been to about 4 concerts in my life: Metallica, The Cure, The Pogues (half of them, the other half got lost and went to a different Belgrade on another continent), and Jamiroquai. This is not counting ballet, opera and classical music, of course or some local bands/club live bands, festivals with multiple performers I went to drink beer or just jump to get excess energy out when I was young. You see, I'm not a fan of big concerts in general. I like to listen to music comfortably, not standing in a crowd somewhere... All that being said, I had to hear what such a praised a cappella group did with one of my least loved songs by Metallica. Now, I'll tell you exactly were to go for the "good part of the song" and that's going to be on the original, not my reaction: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGSUomiBmct_pK8si=Bu8TNCi044P7blQ6&t=257 As you took the time to spend on me, rather than either VoicePlay or Metallica, might as well get something cool out of it. It's only a minute or so, but it IS cool, even if you hate the song. Of course, no strings attached - you don't have to watch it or anything... In the meantime, love to Bavaria! ❤️❤️❤️

@@AleksReacts I have listened to my dose of Metallica back in the days: Not few, actually the majority of my friends were hard rock and metal fans, so when I met them at their homes we would mostly listen to like DIO and Rainbow and Maiden and Metallica and Kiss, even stuff like Sepultura, Biohazard, Anthrax and a lot more... We kind of started with the same bands, Beatles, ACDC, Deep Purple, Doors, Zeppelin... classic rock basically, but while their tastes developed more and more into that heavy / metal direction, I started listening to more jazz or avantgarde, progressive rock, so no wonder I do love Jamiroquai... never seen them live though... I listened to the end of that song from the link with timestamp you gave me: I'd like to give back an idea you came up with yesterday: VoicePlay are a great a capella ensemble and can do very fun magic with their vocals, under the regard of what they did there it was amazing, yet for me their talent is completely wasted on that song, they deserve better material to work with... jm2c... You have a great evening and enjoy it, peace out! Edit: Fun fact: as I'm the visual artist in our then gang, I actually have been asked to design my friend's "Kuttn" (those parkas or jeans jackets with band logos metal fans like to wear...), so I know very well how the Metallica logo looks like... painted it quite a few times - I like the "MARILLION" logo better, did that one once as well, and actually their music is quite intriguing too...

We diverge and overlap a lot, you and I. 😊 Fun fact: I don't like Iron Maiden to this day even though like you most of my friends were metal to the core. One of them ended up singing in a Canadian metal band even. 🤣 This was just my first choice with VoicePlay. Mr. Zero already suggested songs I also love, so off we go to explore! Oh, and Jamiroquai live - sounded like the studio version though you could tell it was live. My husband took me to that one btw. It's his cup of tea. 😉 That was one of the rare ones from his songbook that I like. He generally loves what I call "elevator music". 🤣 Until next time, have a good one!

My first listen to VoicePlay was brought to you by @duke2651, @elmarwinkler6335, @Hundhammer, @lesaahrenstein6360, @guittadabe5214, @thisismetoday7423, @bwayne1994, @stephen8639, @bobharp3492, @richardlester9241, & @continentzero7572. Most of you didn't specify a song (yes, I know some did and yes, I will listen to those 3 suggested), so I picked one that I knew would be right for me. Because, Metallica... What can I say. Thank you ALL so much! ❤❤❤
