Oh, she is going to love Scylla, both the vocal range AND the animatics, like its a masterpiece
@ghosty6253Ай бұрын
It was confirmed by Jorge that in Epic when sirens sing they read the memories of the people that hear their song. But since they had beeswax in they couldn’t get into their minds fully. That’s why there’s many mistakes about what Penelope said. As well as her song containing a mallet, which is Polites instrument which due to the beeswax confuses people Odysseus cares for. Also in suffering when she sings where to go, she sings in the same motif when zues sings about “the infant”. ‘ He will burn your house and throne, He’ll find you wherever you go’.

FINALLY SOMEONE POINTED OUT THE SIRENS CRYING AT THE END YESSSSSSSSSSS
@jennasandau2643Ай бұрын
I love how in the chorus it's "we are a different beast" but when Odysseus tells the mem to kill the sirens it switches to "He is a different beast" almost like the men didn't know what they signed up for and kind of disassociated from it
@MrSlothJuniorАй бұрын
That is one way to see it. I see it like them acknowledging that before he was more merciful than they wanted him to be, and that held them back. Now they are the ones winning and conquering, particularly because HE, their leader, had a change of heart. Not because they aren't fully on his side and backing him up. Collectively, they are a different beast now, because he, individually, is a different beast now. As they say "No more of us deceased now, he won't take more suffering from you.". Even in that last chorus, they acknowledge that they are all benefitting from Odysseus growing colder.
@BeyondTrash-xe1vsАй бұрын
@@MrSlothJuniorI agree, the men seem very supportive, and they also got taught a lesson from Poseidon of how Ruthlessness is mercy upon themselves. In Monster, Odysseus vows to become the monster "to everyone but us," and I think this is indicative of the crew's support... At least for now.
@michaelbarnes5223Ай бұрын
Someone pointed out in the original video, Odysseus' eyes during "I read your lips and phrases, scanning for information" are the same as how a predatory animal's eyes look. He's not just cunning and opportunistic; he's stalking them like an animal, waiting to strike.

Yes. Odysseus is a Monster now. He went too far to the other side. The lesson of Epic is to know when to give mercy and when to be ruthless
@oricipriani1609Ай бұрын
I think you mean the lesson of the Odyssey. Though I'll admit Epic does a great job at spreading it.
@bradleybarnett1469Ай бұрын
@oricipriani1609 the odyssey really doesn't have that message. The message of the Odyssey is "Cleverness is king" and "Don't let pride be your downfall". There really are no moral questions in the original odyssey
@oricipriani1609Ай бұрын
@@bradleybarnett1469 I would argue morality is a subcategory of what you are describing here. It was viewed in a more practical and objective way in the Odyssey, but in my opinion it doesn't change the fact that moral questions are faced despite their direct confrontation being more subdued.

I always assumed when the lyrics changed to "he is a different beast" and so on that it indicated they were emphasizing how much Ody has changed, not that they were trying to single him out as being more monstrous. After all, there's really no indication in the lyrics that they feel remorse or regret for killing the very creatures that would have eaten them without a second thought, nor was there anything in the official stream for the Thunder Saga that indicated them feeling bad or seeing Ody as needlessly ruthless. Also, the 'ooh-oh-oh' chant at the end is the same as Remember Them, after Ody commands his men to blind Poly.
@CrowBrained09Ай бұрын
My favourite thing about this song is that the “oh-woah-oh”s from the crew are the same as in Remember Them, but the the choruses are allocated in a way that mirrors Survive in that it’s three choruses sung by (or about) 1) Odysseus 2) the crew 3) the monster (except Odysseus is the monster this time)

If you didn’t notice it starts with “We won’t take more suffering from you” then after Odysseus shows his monster side the crew goes “He won’t take more suffering for you” I like to see this as the crew is somewhat scared of Odysseus

One thing I LOVE about Gigi's Suffering animatic is that she animates the siren's mouth at "he will chase you high and low", showing how much attention Odysseus was paying to that.

one of my favorite details of this song is the double meaning of the line "he is the man-made monster" because the first one, he is the _man-made_ monster; a monster created by man. the other one, he is the man _made_ monster; a man who became a monster. it's just such a fun little detail that i love
