Austin (the first one singing) has the voice of an Angel and the appeal of a precocious little boy. He can literally melt hearts with his voice. Rob (the bearded Tenor) has a voice that slides over you like silk, yet wraps you in warmth like a favorite blanket on a cold winter's day. Adam Chance (known as Chance) is the one who was doing the mouth harp sounds. He also has an amazing voice, and you will love hearing him come to the lead in songs, as well. Tim, the bass you were hearing -- you haven't heard anything yet. He's literally blown sub-woofers in concert, with as deep as he can go. Listen to Ring of Fire (with and without Avi Kaplan joining them), or Misty Mountain for just a couple of songs regarding his depth (believe me, there's more). Adam Rupp (who founded the group with his brother Chris) is called the 'Freak of Nature's. The man àctually does drum solos -- and dj mixes -- with nothing but his voice. As well as cymbals, castanets, harmonica, and who knows what else. On top of that, HE can sing as well. I have yet to find a song they've done that I didn't care for. They do songs from multiple genres. They do Covers, tributes, collaborations with original artists, and they do original songs as well. They do songs that will have you laughing so hard you're almost crying, songs that will cause tears to well up simply because of the sheer beauty and purity of their voices in it, and songs that will have the tears leaking down your cheeks because your emotional heart strings are being played so skillfully. This group is truly like no other. Looking forward to more of your reactions to them. However, do NOT do Mayday until after you've done MULTIPLE reactions to them, until you are very familiar with who they are, and have learned their voices well enough to identify them without watching the video to see who's singing. If you do that, I promise you will experience the very same shocking, jaw dropping moments in the song that us Home Fries got the first time WE watched and heard it. Welcome to the world of the Home Fries, journey down the rabbit hole with us. You'll soon discover why SO many Reactors have joined the Home Fries family.

Really added their music when Adam Chance joined, with the ability to cover normal bass notes while Tim sings a melody. Can't hit the sub-woofer range, but Adam keeps the music in balance when Tim is laying some melody out there. Plus on this song, Adam Chance is providing the Jew's Harp (mouth harp if you prefer) at the beginning and end.

You must be new to Home Free. That's OK. You'll become a "Home fry" soon enough. Where Tim is singing (Tim Foust - bass) is right at his normal speaking voice. He is not pushing to reach any of these notes. His range is 5 octaves - A0 to A5. He can sing bass on one song and tenor on the next.

Love your reactions Jennifer! Home Free are awesome. Austin Brown's lead tenor (with the hat). Rob Lundquist's tenor, Adam Chance is their Baritone, Time Foust is their Bass and Adam Rupp is their Beat Boxer and all around sound effects machine. If you'd really like to hear more of Tim's bass versatility react to Peter Hollen's cover of Misty Mountain featuring Tim Foust. It too is all a Capella. You'll also get to hear Peter who is also an exceptional singer with a crazy range and approaches a Capella music a bit differently, often making extensive use of multi-tracking.

Jennifer I'm not sure that there is another group out there just like Home Free. There are some similar like Pentatonix and Voice Play and a few others (and I love all these other groups as well). But, these guys are just a little on the special side for some of us music nerds. They have an extensive catalog to choose from "Ring of Fire" featuring Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix with Home Free's bass singer providing that last LOW, LOW note, to Tim Foust the bass singer doing "Misty Mountains" with the amazing Peter Hollens, to Home Free being featured on Peter Hollens video of the U2 classic, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (plus a 350 member virtual choir of Patrons), to other covers, to originals, to Christmas music. Plus they do classic songs with the original artist such as The Oak Ridge Boys and Don McLean. If you like A Cappella music then this is a rabbit hole you will love falling into.

They like to have fun with their songs. One which is a pretty big production is "Butts remix". It's a mashup of several songs referring to butts and includes a lot of their friends, wives and girlfriends. Others that work well for them is "How great thou art", "In the blood", "Helplessly Hoping", "Folsom prison blues", and "Ring of Fire" featuring Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix. Knock those out and we will suggest more.

They do a cover of "End Of The Road" that's pretty cool too. But now that you have heard Tim Foust (bass singer) you might want to consider checking out "Misty Mountain" by Peter Hollens and Tim. Lots of reactors have done videos on the song, so if you don't want to do it, please check it out off camera, it's worth it.

Yep, Adam Chance (baritone, mostly. Dark vest) was using harmonic overtone singing to make the jaw harp sound. Adam Rupp did all the drums and the harmonica sound, but they have done harmonica duets on tour. He also did the record crackle at the beginning. Austin Brown is the high tenor in the brown vest. Rob Lundquist is the more forward voiced tenor. Tim Foust is the excellent bass. The alligator was in charge of chilling. Not officially a member of the group, but no one argues with the alligator.

11:55 They take turns singing lead and/or doing solos. They'll heavily feature certain members for a few videos then switch. In this one Chance didn't do a solo, but he was doing all those background noises. (not the beat boxing, the didgeridoo and mouth harp noises). The other one that didn't do a solo was Adam Rupp, the beat boxer. He's...oddly shy about regular singing. He vary rarely sings normally and almost always in the background. He sings a solo in some of their live shows in a skit they do called 'guilty pleasures' that I recommend reacting to. (He sings in Korean) You not only get to hear them individually, but its also really funny.

Jennifer. The 2 who didn't really take part in the delivery of a section of the lead were Adam Rupp (who was the beatboxer and harmonica soloist. Along with a few other sounds). The other is Adam Chance (brown hat and dark vest). He frequently does take a bigger role, but was the one doing the twangy mouth harp sound effect. He was the bass in his last group and is actually classified as a bass/baritone I believe. All 5 have real strong vocal ability, and several can beatbox (of course not quite like Adam), and in live shows Austin (first tenor lead we heard) joins Adam in the harmonica playing as well. Adam Chance goes by Chance to avoid some confusion. Chance was a later addition to the group. Adam Rupp's brother Chris started the band and later decided to pursue a solo career and recommended Chance as his replacement. You will see Chris in some of the videos. Their cover of Ring of Fire for example. Oh and joining them on that one is Avi formerly of Pentatonix. According to several reactors the very last note of that video is delivered by Tim (home free base) and is a G1! I would suggest that vid and How Great Thou Art as 2 to look into. Enjoy!!

They are masters at utilizing their gifts. Adam Rupp has the harmonica sound down! Austin, lead tenor, is a southern man. Hear him speak, and you have no doubts. He let his drawl come through for this song. Rob, 2nd tenor, is a northern man. He and Austin have lovely tenor voices. Adam Chance, gentleman in the back, singing ooo-ooo, is a baritone/bass. He sings bass often, but not in this song. Tim sings bass here. He has a very rich resonance to his voice. Rich and clear. This group of men have a great sense of humor, and express it often in their videos. That said, they are all business. Investigate further down the rabbit hole that is Home Free Vocal Band. 08:46 Same big MISTAKE as almost anyone else reacting: Pausing here robs you of experiencing Tim dropping another octave. This leads to overlooking his astounding capabilities. And sadly, so you did . . .

It's not Tim that does this you are mistaken. That was Adam Chance that dropped down.
@WillVafuth

@@joannecamacho8156 Nope. not Adam. Adam is a baritone. That IS Tim dropping a full octive into the harmony. JUust cause it's Adam in the camera shot does not mean it's him singing. They are ALL singing the same words in the harmony.

Song published in 1912 and made popular in 2000 movie Oh Brother Where Art Thou. The sound at the first is the sound of a mouth harp made by Chance's voice. The harmonica is also voice made.

In some recent concerts, when they do this song, Austin joins Adam during the "harmonica" solo to make it a duet.

As you mentioned you like a cappella groups, please give Voice Play a reaction. I'd recommend Oogie Boogie's Song as it shows a LOT of different vocal techniques in one shot. You'll also be introduced to the vocal wonder that is Geoff Castellucci as Oogie Boogie. His solo cover of 16 tons is also great.

I'm not sure if these have been answered, but...Location: Bayous and swamps in Louisiana, Alabama, or Mississippi. Maybe South Carolina or Georgia. The twangy noise is called a Jew's Harp, and it's also done completely with the hands by the same guy. Look up solo for Adam Rupp, Home Free. It's enlightening. Every noise you heard came out of one of these five guys.

thank you miss Jennifer for a lovely reaction. I always like to hear Voice Coaches react because I always learn something new. Homefree is an awesome group, and they are one of my top 3, along with Pentatonix, and VoicePlay. Most of the time, I am still in awe of what they do when I listen to reactions. Keep up the good work.

I would personally recommend Home Free covers of In The Blood, Honey I'm Good, Ring of Fire (official video and live on the Sing Off), How Great Thou Art, Silent Night, and End of the Road! They also have mashups like the Butts Remix, County Fried Pop Medley, and Sea Shanty Medley. Also if you want to be amazed by their beat boxer, Adam Rupp, check out one of his live "drum solo" videos!

I love watching ladies' reactions to Tim's deep bass...gets them every time, and always makes me jealous. I'm just a normal bass, not a basso profondo :( Also, this song is a very good representation of a couple of American country styles mixed together in a beautiful way.
