Guy doing the hunter mo-cap is just spamming those emotes IRL with the snap and synchronicity of the in-game emotes, that's impressive

What impresses me is how well all of the bones were retargeted. Doshugama's proportions are very different from a human's, but they managed to translate the actor's movements onto the monster rig really well for real-time capture.

Craziest thing about this is that it sends the mocap data into the RE engine as real time animation. Nuts what they can do with this stuff.

I do appreciate the clarification at the end. People see mo-cap as the start and finish line when really, it's just a shortcut to get the energy of a movement onto the model. A lot of polish has to be applied after that initial step. Correcting cloth physics, hair, enhancing the details to better accent the intent of the animation. They also have to correct for differences like how you can feel the presence of the mattress in game. In short, there's a reason high fidelity games are not adding new animations as quickly as they can be acted out in studio.
@kivori3438Ай бұрын
You can see most of it in the final action, when he back stomps with the sword he glitches out the final moment cuz there is the mattress, there is where the manual animation is most noticeable
@Dr.MSC.W.KruegerАй бұрын
People tend to forget that. A single mocap session usually gives our artists weeks of manual corrective work until everything looks right. Not to forget the added layer of performance on top and, of course, supplementing motions that are technically impossible to capture during the session itself. Might add that we do VFX, not realtime content. The quality requirements in our field are even more demanding.

Aside from the obvious benefit to the animators, I imagine this kind of technology of streaming the mocap data straight into the game engine does wonders for the satisfaction of the mocap actors.
