... ha ha, I liked it when you mentioned 'not quite Marple Aqueduct'... takes me back... a trip along the Macclesfield canal on a family boating holiday back in 1980.

Hi Jen, Yet another enjoyable watch, you pack so much in. I am currently in Davenport but on Wednesday I am coming to Manchester Piccadilly. So if you are about, say hello. I will have to arrive by bus though as there are no trains that day. Hopefully the Trams will ne running, it would be good to grab a ride on one. Cheers for now, Jon B.

I remember them building that bridge in Selly Oak. It was built next to the railway line then over Christmas 2010, the embankment the railway was on was dug away and the bridge was wheeled into place, set into foundations and then the rails and overhead power were reconnected - all over 4 days! Also - at Kings Norton the disused platform was used for Intercity trains in the early 80's when the junction north of New Street was closed and trains were diverted between Bristol and Leeds via the Camp Hill line. Trains would stop at Kings Norton to allow passengers to connect to Cross City DMU's which were still going into New Street. There is a picture I've seen of a 125 unloading on platform 3!

Was a UoB student a few years ago, haven't returned to the area since before Covid. Very nostalgic. Nice to see that the canal area around Selly Oak has become a bit less derelict in that time!

I absolutely love Bourneville! I took Mrs "Bergen" to Cadbury world but didn't tell her she was going there - I told here we were going to a stuffy museum for the day. We got off at Bourneville, and she was in love with the station, but it didn't click to her at the time that we were going to Cadbury World. It wasn't until we we passed the factory gate she was like "wait ARE YO TAKING ME TO CADBURY WORLD?!". xD also that canal is very other-worldly, love it!

Great video Jen 👍 I hope they do bring the middle platform back into use at Kings Norton when the Camp Hill line opens, as the abandoned platforms have been an eyesore for years

Enjoyed this one - having been at University of Birmingham 30 years ago, very familiar with Five Ways, and interesting to see the works going on at University (as well as now having direct trains to places other than the X City line. Bournville was always purple even in those days, and the island platform at Kings Norton saw use back then.

As a student at UoB I've taken the Cross-City line many times, the 323s are a delight (even if they're overcrowded at times!). I'm looking forward to when the new University station buildings are finally open 👍

Hey it’s Jen and CyberTrains (Sim0ntrains). You should do a review of the Class 196 Civity and Class 730 Aventra trains coming into service from next year.

Fun Costa fact at Selly Oak, there is another Costa inside of Next! Oh and at least two at the University of Birmingham (only open term time Monday to Friday). Selly Oak Bypass (Aston Webb Boulevard) opened in 2011, the shopping park in 2018. It is called the Ariel Aqueduct. Battery park site being turned now into the Life Sciences Park for the University.

Hi Jen, I am now on your turf on a wet Wednesday afternoon. No trains of course except for Trans Penine and Transport for Wales...sorry to contact you this way but there is no other way. Looking for the Costa on the concourse. I would make a video but I would have to post it on my chanel which wouldn't make any sense to anyone else as I usually talk about model railways and all things connected...if I see you I see you but if I don't it's not a problem...🙂 Take care, Jon B.

Brilliant video Jen, the captions were brilliant and that editing Jen part was brilliant. And yes Cadbury world, I've only been once on a school trip and to be honest, there's more exciting things to do elsewhere. That car ride at Cadbury world wasn't even scary like the boat ride in the old Charlie and the Chocolate factory film with Gene Wilder lol.
