Demonstration of the jens pind chainmaille weave. I'm using 12g 6.0mm ID rings (AWG).
other ring sizes for jens pind in AWG:
14g 4.75mm ID
16g 4.0mm ID
18g 3.0mm ID
20g 2.5mm ID
I can never say the name of this weave properly - it's pronounced a bit like "yens pint" - sorry for my botching it repeatedly!

I have watched 3 videos and read a manual on how to make this and couldn't get it right. FINALLY this is the video that officially made it click for me. Thank you!

This is the best explanation I have found with Jen's Pind. I made it with 18g 3mm ID. If I can make it with rings this small I can make it with any size ring. Thanks so much.

Great tutorial! So helpful. Thank you very much. I was having a lot of trouble with this weave but your video made it very clear and it's been so much easier and faster for me to work since watching your demo.

there is all ways a sneaky technic to thes chain mail weaves some of us forget thes weaves come from midevil times and in my opinion they were like what our cell phones are today to play games the world of chain mail weaves is a fascinating one indeed i have been in to it now going on to 2 years i was deep in to recycling ♻️ scrap copper wire and figured I try a thing new and I always look for new things to try ther is all ways a problem for me with aspect ratios as copper wire is so thick like 6 to 12 gage watching people like you do help with that some what thank you

Love your tutorials. Very clear and easy to follow. I must echo other viewers...when the camera goes out of focus or you go out of camera range when explaining the weave I get lost. I know it must be so hard to stay in camera range but please try!

I'm so sorry about the out of focus :( I will have to do a "take 2" on this weave with my new steadier setup.

In addition to others comments (camera out of focus, chain out of camera range), the problem I had following is every time you arranged the links you put the chain down to open the rings. If the rings were already opened and you could just insert them I think I could follow it much better.

Hello. I have watched your video many times, I thought that if you use ring #1 in gold, ring #2 in copper and ring # 3 in green that ring #4 should be gold, ring #5 COPPER and ring #6 green, but you did not attach the rings in the same color sequence. I am totally confused. Can you please explain me. Your bracelet came out really pretty, but I have a lot of trouble making mine. Please answer me. Thank so much.

I apologise for commenting after more than 9 years, just trying to understand something. What's the difference between JPL3 4-1 (which this seems to be) and regular spiral 4-1? Is it just the tighter AR?

I still have trouble with this weave and I've done a full necklace of it. Tiny rings make me lose my place and I have to take out as many rings as I put in! This is a good tutorial but every time the camera went out of focus I would lose my place and not understand where my ring is supposed to go. This is one pattern I doubt I will ever master.

I was curious about the pliers you use, if you could recommend a supplier, or what kind they are.
@raineyamy

I use Lindstrom RX pliers, You can get them from most jewelry supply stores, or a local bead store (if they don't have them in stock, they can usually order them in for you). I like the chain nose (product number is RX7893) and bent chain nose (RX7892)

what brand of pliers are you using or recommend?
@raineyamy
@raineyamy 10 жыл бұрын
I'm using Lindstrom RX pliers - they are pricey, but if you do a lot of chainmaille, and/or can afford it, they will save you a lot in hand pain! Next up, I would recommend Tronex pliers, or Wubbers pliers. I like a pair of chain nose in my primary hand, and bent chain nose in my off hand.
