I caught myself *knowing* this weave, doing it, and then having it bend only one way... I said, "hang on a sec - that's not right", and came looking for your tutorial. Was not disappointed! TYSM!!!

Do I have to use a different ring size other than the ones you've posted? Won't the bead make it more difficult to weave? And, if I use 16 ga, what bead size do you suggest? Thank you again. Yes you do. For example with 18G(1.0mm) normally I would do 3.00mmID for JPL3, but for beaded I use 3.50mmID and 6/0 sized beads. The size of the ring may depend on the size/shape of the bead you use. Deb

Can you tell me where you got the slanted tip pliers in your left hand? I know they are Xuron but haven't been able to find them online. They look to be very perfect for chain mailing. With Arthritis creeping upon me, it's a little painful but I really would like to learn JPL. Thanks, Pam

We normally stock them but I see we are currently of stock right now. I am sure most places that sell Xurons, especially those that cater to the chain maille crowd, will have them. They are called Chisel nosed and their code is PL487. Hope that helps. Deb

Hi Glossy. 1.0mm x 3.50mmID is too loose for JPL3. If you pop some beads onto it (6/0 size) it will work up beautifully. Deb

Hello, great vid! I don't know what I do wrong, but I keep ending up with something that looks like a DNA-string. Are my rings to thin? I use 1.6mm rings with a 8mm inner diameter
@AussieMaillers
@AussieMaillers Жыл бұрын
Yes they are. JPL3 is one of the few weaves that need a very specific size in order to work. You need an Aspect Ratio of 3, the rings you mentioned have a calculated AR of 5 so waaaay to big. For that wire diameter you would need rings that are 4.75mmID or 3/16"ID. Deb

am I doing a false jpl if I accidentally twist the weave and it becomes a 2 in 1 spiral? Working with 18g 3.5mm, or is this just what happens because the id is a little larger than recommended?
@AussieMaillers
@AussieMaillers Жыл бұрын
I can't comment on whether you are weaving JPL correctly without images, but the size rings (if the 18G is 1.0mm wire) you listed are two big and the weave won't hold its form. It's the tightness of the AR that gives JPL3 its shape.

Sooo... If I had twisted it, I would find the beginning of the error and remove the entire chain woven incorrectly - - if I opened the last ring placed in the error chain, I could then place it as the next one on the original chain and the Weave would then be corrected???
