Did you know that Xanatos once fought Qui-Gon with two blades in The Dark Rival: his added with Obi-Wan's? Qui-Gon even saw Xanatos practice Jar'Kai in the temple. So that would play a factor in his duel with Sora Bulq. Seriously.

@Carl Coriell umm what? We're not talking about skillset, we're talking about past experiences and events. Qui Gon's knowledge of Xanatos's use of Jar Kai would go a long way towards alleviating Sora Bulq's dual blades.

Bulq's "kark it, I'll just kill everyone" may have been because of Mira's death. Prior to that he was able to pass himself off as the typical serene Master and he did seem truly upset by her death so it may have catalyzed his fall to the dark side. I'd expect he was utterly furious with Ventress next time he saw her.

Another fact you should check in "The Wrath of Darth Maul" is that Maul recognized Qui-Gon's weariness on Tatooine and used it to his advantage on Naboo. It seems that Qui-Gon is always losing in the Versus Series.

Is it stated in the novel that Jinn put away his lightsaber before force pushing the droids specifically *to concentrate*? Because when watching the scene, it always looked to me as if he was simply certain, that his lightsaber wasn't needed anymore, because he knew the force push would disable the droids. In fact, to me this speaks more of a confidence in his abilities, both in the force and in reading the fight.

Why does the best Jedi, Qui-Gon, lose...I mean, he's not the most powerful, but it seems like he isn't as strong as every other Jedi or Sith. I mean, Dooku is like 20 years older, but still keeps up. Why is it that Qui-Gon gets left behind?

plus malgus had a clarity and focus which enabled him to remain composed even when filled with anger (the moment he was "going to slaughter his own men if the jedi all fell; such was his rage"), he did not let emotion overwhelm him; he was able even to draw zallow in a tactical trap. that's a hell of composure and tactical ingenuity. whereas what we see of marek is immense potential, power and range (true), but a lack of control, or focus.

Revan vs. Palpatine would be a fascinating fight to break down. Revan fought Vitiate, the most Palpatine-like being in his era, and Palpatine fought Luke, the most Revan-like being in his era. While we're at it, why not also examine Luke vs. Vitiate? These people lived some 3,900 years apart; it takes considerable analysis to draw any meaningful conclusions.

Oh, I know what you're referencing: "Indeed it was said that he was the only Jedi apart from his own Master, Dooku and Grand Master Yoda, who was able to fight Windu as an equal." This isn't sourced however, and what they probably meant, but didn't emphasize enough when saying he was ABLE to fight as Windu's equal, was that he was able to hold his own against Windu. And this would be most likely during sparring matches, so no one would be going all out. Still, Qui-Gon is a capable duelist.

Qui-Gon Jinn vs A Battle Droid. Maybe he'll win there! Maybe. Kidding aside. Jinn is a good character but not a good combatant. I'd like to see you use Aylla Secura in a VS at some point. Since she was fleshed out in the Clone Wars comics pretty well.

And because you were the one who brought it up (albeit earlier), thinking it mattered how many lightsaber styles Vos and Kenobi knew, I should point out that while Vos only mastered Ataru, Obi-Wan mastered Ataru, Soresu, Shii-Cho, and Niman. Also, Obi-Wan was considered one of the best lightsaber duelists in the order; Vos was not.

He'd take Darth Maul easly, if he were, I think! Hehe. Anyway, so I saw someone who said that Dooku defeated Sora easly, yes, he did, but Sora wasn't so powerful back then. He was Jedi and had no later knowledge of the force... And as INCREDIBLY powerful Sith (yes, he WAS) he became an equal to Quinlan Vos... IMO, Quinlan was a very powerful saber and force user... Far more powerful and better than Qui-Gon Jinn, actually. So, now you can see my point - if Sora could easly fight Quinlan as an equal, well, Qui-Gon wuld be in a big trouble, like more fuked than with duel with Darth Maul... My verdict is very clear. I agree with the creator of this video - Qui-Gon, even though he was a venerable warrior, strong and powerful Jedi (also great saberist), he couldn't take such an opponent like mastered Sora Bulq. It would be a nice, maybe even an equal fight, if Sora was still a Jedi, like when he fought Count Dooku first time with Tholme... Back then he had no special skills, just a basic knowledge and a single saber... Lol, he was worse than Qui-Gon, but still not bad. But for Sora Bulq mastered Sith version hands down, Sora FTW... I like to think that, because Sidious is so conniving, he staged his defeat at the hands of Mace Windu. What backs up my theory is the fact that he was acting weak in front of Anakin, then he unleashed his "UNLIMITED POWER!" after Anakin attacked Windu. Also, he could have very well sensed Anakin's arrival, thus giving him the idea to stage his defeat, giving him a perfect opportunity to lure Anakin into the dark side through playing the victim card.

On the contrary, Satele and Luke would be an interesting fight; both were the most powerful Jedi of their respective eras. Both fought against some of the most dangerous opponents of their respective eras. Direct comparison is difficult, which is why we suggest these to Jensaarai in the first place.

i think malgus knows the disadvantage this mask represents. he's a keen strategic mind, and if suspecting he would have a problem by someone's lightning, he would remove it, even to spare himself from the few moments between his being struck, and recovering more angry than ever. if i am not mistaken he has shown little problem fighting without it. (but seriously.. the guy was able to fight after a grenade exploded in his face, and a rocky hill side came down on his head... as you say: resilient)

I would say that Bulq should be called a user of Juyo not Vapaad. That mental focus defense and fluidity Windu added to it are part of what set apart Vapaad from its mother art Juyo.which is what Bulq's technique sounds like after he fell.

The only one I might argue there is Anakin vs Mace. Mace was supposedly Dooku's equal on neutral ground, and Anakin defeated him pretty handily. Offensively, Anakin and Mace are both very good, but Anakin's Djem So has much better defense, whereas Vapaad has no defense, but is a bit better as far as offense goes. Anakin wouldn't be able to use his Force powers against Mace due to Vapaad's loop ability, but Mace's Force abilities would be ineffective against Anakin's superior power. So I dunno.

actually you phrased it perfectly. it is the same with yoda; one can use his connection to the force, to overcome any kind of short-comings (age, slight respiratory problems), even solely rely on the force for limited periods of time. but i also think that malgus's problem, and mask was not like plagueis'. malgus' problem was (i think) more mild. for plagueis, YES, the mask was a huge disadvantage (as proven).

Banethesithari - I also would like to see more warriors, but on the other hand, using this characters suggests that Jensaarai knows most about them and wants to show us most proffesional analysis. Plus, from his videos I learned much myself and I try to think about some duels myself - you can also try. And if it comes to new characters, I'd suggest some New Republic jedi - Corran Horn (in my opinion best swordsman,as he was unable to use telekinesis), Kam Solusar and maybe Kyp Durron.

Yeah, and what Jedi Exile told me made me consider Obi-Wan vs. Quinlan Vos to be a lot closer of a match than I originally thought. I would say Obi-Wan has the advantage when it comes to lightsaber skill, but Quinlan would have the edge when it came to his variety of force powers. I'd definitely like to see Jensaarai do Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Quinlan Vos, but I don't think he's done a video in a while now. He may have stopped posting videos. :/

I would say Asajj Ventress. Based on what we have seen she has superior force powers, even breaking the force shields of Anakin and Obi-Wan. She also has a superior form, Makashi. Starkiller also carries a standard lightsaber, but Ventress carries two cured sabers, that when connected, have different positions to create difference angles and attack ranges with each saber.

One thing I'll say, regardless of whichever Sith Lord one holds in higher esteem... They seem to forget to use their best powers whenever it'd really count. It's said that Palpatine could instantly kill scores of enemies with his Force Lightning, and yet he never does. You mention that he could destroy entire fleets with Force Storms, but I don't think I've ever seen him do it. (Cont.)

i think that toughness comes into play when a classical ataru practitioner like jinn, starts the kicks, slams & punches. ataru practitioners use the whole body as a weapon, so in that case high pain threshold and physical toughness might give bulq a slight advantage, when, and if, qui-gon drew the contest to a more physical level. a less intuitive/more cerebral guy would think twice before punching a weequai or a zabrak with his bare hands, but... well... it's qui-gon! that's why we love him! :)

Obi-Wan knew and was familiar with every style. He was also no slouch when it came to unpredictability. He defeated both Darth Maul and Savage Opress simultaneously. Obi-Wan did primarily use Soresu, however he incorporated numerous other styles when the need would arise, including Ataru, Shii-Cho and Niman, which he all mastered. And true, Vos had a bigger variety of force powers, but it's incorrect to infer that he's more powerful in the force, if that's what you intended.

I would also give Malgus the edge on lightsaber dueling (his major strong point...although he has a strong arsenal of force powers) but I would give force abilities to Galen the edge when it comes to the force (more variety and has the strength to back them up)...like I said Malgus would win but it would be a good fight to see ;)

Dude, he said he loves Qui-Gon as a lightsabre duellist and is his second favourite, after Darth Vader. Qui-Gon is certainly a formidable force, but he just doesn't have the experience or skill to take out opponents like Vader, Bulq or Ventress.

Btw if u do a lot of research, it is known that boba fett actually used a green saber as his first idea of attacking mac windu, so you could do boba fett and Assaj vetress, because he is known to be VERY skilled.

We don't know if he would've beaten Sidious in a lightsaber duel. As far as we know, they matched each other, then they moved on to using the force, and Yoda lost only because of his small size, being flung off the side of one of the Senate platforms.

ThePerrperr Probably won’t go well for Bulq. He’d hammer against Kenobi’s defense, make an opening, then fall to the ground in chunks. And the Force doesn’t help, as Kenobi can match Bulq’s power and far surpassing Bulq’s precision.

I wasn't clear on that, sorry. I was thinking of Luke around the end of the Jedi Academy series. Where he was a more rounded Jedi. Instead of half trained. Starkiller was fully trained even if aspects, like meditation, were purposely neglected.

I think I'm doing an ok job so far in keeping my cool (in this round of replying to your comments). I will continue to do so. "Mace Windu was the only Jedi to fully master Vaapad" (Wookieepedia). You can find this quote on Mace Windu's page. There, that's what I meant by the difference between "level of mastery Vaapad," and "actual mastery of Vaapad." Depa Billaba was the only other master of Vaapad. She was the only one Windu considered to have surpassed him.

he is resilient I give him that, but with his current state (with breathing mask) I would say he would have trouble with an actual force lightning attack (one that doesn't zap you for a second or two...which might destroy his masks function)... also Galen's Form VII might give him some sort of edge (although Malgus wins still with lightsaber combat)... I think its a closer match than expected since its a match of speed/strong variety force using vs strength/lightsaber mastery/basic strong force

Jensaarai1, I respect you but IMO this video was spite. Vaapad is a perfected form of juyo and weequay have the same endurance as zabraks. So this is like saying "quigon vs an even better darth maul." Can you please do something more even next time like Malgus vs pre-suit vader or Malak vs dooku. Or why is it always jedi or sith? Force choke and grip are telekinetic-based, and Obi-Wan was very proficient with telekinetic force powers. Dooku only managed to force choke and throw him because his guard was down thinking Dooku was more focused on Anakin in that moment. And you obviously didn't read what I said. I said to research the fight between Vos and Bulq, because how you're talking about it, it makes me think you have no idea what actually happened in that fight.
