He used Dirty Down Rust and Dirty Down Yellow Rust and Dirty Down Verdigre, awesomeness in little bottles. I have four in my collection, rust, moss, yellow rust and verdigre.

Looks like layering to establish the main colours, glazing for the initial transition then airbrush to perfect the blends and add the colour tints to make it come alive.
