Now imagine the artists selling hand drawn original patterns designed from scratch with their own artwork. It's triple the amount of time invested upfront, and almost always a similar outcome. The extreme underpricing on Etsy has been wildly unsustainable lately and is a real shame. Thanks for the honest insight here. Every emotion he showed during the entire process is accurate. You feel ecstatic when making and putting up listings but when you dont hit views and sales you start questioning everything. Then when you check revenue after deducting expenses and see a loss you question everything even more but the idea is to never give up. Good things take time ❤ Loved the honest video. Actually truth is little different. Its not easy to start Etsy digital shop but the thing is that it might take time when it goes up. You have to be very patient and add every day more listings be consistent and it might take up to 3-4 months before you start to earn decent revenue. It took for me 5 months to make decent money. First 2 months i did not earning nothing but I did not give up. Its tough business and if you dont believe and dont put months of effort then you will have disappointment and end of your business. After 4 months my shop skyrocketed and I earned 7000 dollars in month and now after 10 months it scaled back because its gone really saturated but still earning 2000 dollars in month which is good passive income.

Tip for Leonardo AI users: You can easily create repeating patterns by choosing 1:1 as the dimension of your image. That means the width and length should be the exact same number, for example 1200 px. And most importantly you need to tick off tiling. When you use tiling it will create patterns that can be repeated endlessly without a visible border. Good luck!

I really appreciate your honesty opposing to the other youtubers who promise we would get rich doing this in no time. I ended up as an Etsy seller because I believed many of those people. I still don't regret it because I found a new hobby that might end up profiting one day, but so far after 2 months of hard work (opposing to the promised easy job) I'm still deep in negative profit. And they make the market more saturated too by convincing other people to jump into the wagon. At least your videos show the truth and honestly the products you showcased in this video, including their thumbnails are very high quality that most new Etsy sellers won't be able to produce unless they have experience in graphic design. Also many people wouldn't have the time to produce such a high number of listings, and having more listings helps with being found. So chances are other people might get their first 2 sales many months later, while initially believing they would get rich in a month.

It sucks you haven't made that much money yet but that's the thing about making money online. Nothing about online is easy and takes literally years to be truly successful. And now with AI, everything is just going to get even more saturated which sucks even harder! The best way to succeed is to focus on what you're truly passionate about. Otherwise you don't have a voice and no one will listen to you or give a shit.

I'd be interested to see a 90 day or 6 month Etsy challenge. I think these challenges have established that Etsy is way too slow to do a 30 day challenge for, and with the upfront costs you'll end up deep in the hole after 30 days. But it would be interesting to see if long term it turned around.
@rogerriveroll6324 Жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get any better with time it’s just that the market is really saturated and you need to create a really specific pattern for each client which makes it really unprofitable

@@rogerriveroll6324 I'd like to see for sure. There are successful people on Etsy, but these experiments are usually too short and come up empty handed.
@williamedwards415111 ай бұрын
@@rogerriveroll6324 It does get a little better but, you're right. It's so saturated. The key to success, from what I've found, is getting reviews on your shop. People tend to buy something from a proven seller or one that appears "trustworthy". So, as time goes on, you MIGHT get some reviews that add credibility to your shop, which COULD translate to more sales. The best advice I've gotten is to have friends/family make a purchase and leave a review for you. Or even trying co-workers. Anyone that knows you on a personal/in-person level can be a great help. What sucks is that this whole platform leads to a kind of feedback loop for successful sellers. If you're successful, then more people will choose you over someone else. Which leads to more sales, more success and more customers. That's how you see the big sellers on there, their success feeds into itself. I personally wish Etsy would make more of a effort to highlight newer sellers rather than spoon feeding customers to sellers that don't need them.

Etsy also loves it when you have outside likes bringing people to the site so just post them on a social media site with link to your products will have ETSY liking your store even more.

Other than depressing for real artists that put hours to the work and years of experience on the table, this is one of the most honest videos I've seen these days. Thank you. Question, did you mark your art as AI generated when listing on Etsy? I wonder if people would care more to see artist made things on that platform than AI generated things. Just a thought. Thank you again for the challenge!
