Magenta is equal parts Red and Blue light, while Purple and Violet are Blueish-Magentas. Also using both the terms “light”, “soft” and “bright” can be confusing for listeners, I think it would clear up some confusion if you instead used the terms “value” and “saturation”. Value refers strictly to brightness vs darkness (white/black) while saturation refers to colorfulness and chromatic intensity.

Do we soften as we age? I'm 52. If i didn't color i would have white hair with a bit of red...should i be looking for softer warm colors?

You are awesome how you explain this. Im an artist( i love doing art) that is more of a cool tone. I can wear muted/soft and dark cool colours. Now i want to add something if that's ok. I have dark black hair, brown/grey eyes and medium light skin( somewhat a little more light in my skin with pink and red.) I was born fair skinned and red hair. My hair got darker with age. I somewhat tan but i burn extremely easy. I know that ethnicity doesnt matter but i am multiracial abd i find that i have very coolness about me. But weirdly due to society's statistics, i get accused of being an olive Undertone. My veins and eyelids do have bluish purple colour( which doesnt really matter). If you remember the olde vintage 90s gothy grunge cool colour look? That would be me, smokey eye shadows, muted pale or dark nails, porcelain press powder. Kinda like a. Vampy look and i truly love those fashions. Thats hiw i dress today along with, grunge, hippie and punk. Think simular to wynonna ryder, fairusa bulk, kinda fashion. Of course i have my own different from their but you. get the idea. Lol it was funny when i was in my 20s i was waiting for a bus in Houston tx ( mind you I'm a woman) but some othet woman walked by me complementing me saying i looked like Robert smith of the Cure and that is so cool because i love the cure lol but anyway, just curious would you feel that being more of a cool undertone? Because ive played around with different warm colours and they do not suit me at all. Lol i love purple. I can wear fuschia, magenta, cool red and pink with blue iridescent for my lips, my eyeshadows and eyeliners are more dark and. Pastelle/muted/smokey. But as far as green i wear only the cooler shades.

Jen, the shade of purple you are wearing here is my favourite color. I am warm, but I actually really like it on me. I had a blouse that was the same color, and I wore it so many times that's it bit rough now.😂 On the other hand, lavender looks terrible on me?!

Jen. Want to point out about the Lavender color. It looks rose purple - at least on my screen. But lavender flowers are not rose purple. They are very blue in hue, maybe with a little purple. Also want to ask about the blue hues. And Amethyst, as I know it, not on the red but on the blue side of purple. And what about this:you have Clear Blue and then Royal Blue as a darkened version. But in the red range, the darker version of Clear Red is True Red. Is Royal Blue equivalent to True Red? Why aren't you consequent? Moreover, I feel many of the colors in the middle range - talking bright circle now - are much to alike in their values: clear and royal blue, lavender to bright purple, lavender rose to orchid, light coral pink to hot pink. And the coral and coral pinks are much to blue even if they are leaning red. Most of them are extremely bright and don't seem to soften neither to the lighter nor the darker versions. I hoped the color wheels I ordered should be rendering the colors better, but they too were a disappointment so far. How do you choose to name the colors of your wheels?

Oh I listened again and think I mis heard you say the cool was on the right hand side, which shows the purple turning to those pinks (which I can't wear easily), but no wonder as that's the adding red side, so that would be getting warmer if I understand correctly!

I love the purple on you with the red lipstick. But I wonder because it is very deep colour and you are fair so I think I am missing some understanding. I think i am bright and cool, but purple is not a colour i wear or the cool pinks either, I have very green eyes maybe that's why?

These colors are really off. 15 looks straight up magenta, 14 looks true purple. Also, magenta is a fully saturated color, it shouldn't be in the soft palette. The soft palette overall looks quite bright (or perhaps everything is oversaturated).
