Prophets of Doom had the jajawbone and the backbone to spell out God's grim message to people and the Rulers , who had rejected to pay heed to God's constant Reminder, to come on to the Path of Salvation. God changed King Pashur to mean - Terror on every side.King Pashur was meant to be an Object lesson for The Chosen People. The Prophet Jeremiah was sensitive but a man filled with determination. It is the Holy Spirit that gives A Priest, the mind of a Scholar, the hide of a Rhinoceros and the heart of a child. The Prophet Jeremiah is a tortured soul but he never gave up.He continued to place His trust in God. Dear Fr Warner this chapter portrays the terrible pain Jeremiah went through as a prophet. Despite public humiliation & personal despair, he feels compelled to speak God's word. We see even in our world today that the cost of faithfulness & truth often results in persecution & suffering. In our darkest nights & bitterest moments we have no one except God to turn to. He knows us from the womb & has a divine plan for each of us. We take comfort from what you said...that the last word of God is not destruction but the hope of the resurrection. Fr Warner your inspired reflection shook me to the core! I could empathize and feel Jeremiah's desperation, depression and pain. Yes, we all go through such moments, when its difficult for us to accept His will and say Thy will be done Lord, and ask "why me Lord?" I fully empathise with you dear Father and the agony and anxiety you feel as a priest, facing seemingly impossible situations. Its only your faith and commitment that helps you bounce back, and continue with your mission. I deeply appreciate your work, and the wonderful reflections you post everyday, despite the many hurdles you face. God bless and keep you safe and close to His loving heart. Thank you so much dear Rev. Father. I needed to hear this teaching. There is a deep seated sadness in my heart abd I too wonder when it will end. But it is only my Faith in Abba Father, His Son my Redeemer and The ever present Holy Spirit that helps me to cope. I am learning to pray for a stronger back. Thank you for Psalms 13 and 22. Chapter 20 tells us about the intense pain, Mockery, ridicule and persecution that The Prophet Jeremiah went through because he had the backbone and the jawbone - to spell God's message of Doom to the Chosen People. This is because the Chosen People had turned a deaf ear to the Teachings of the Prophets. From The Prophet Jeremiah we learn not to crumble under pressure but to place our faith and trust in God. We need to have the hide of a Rhinoceros, the heart of a child and the mind of a scholar to discern right from the wrong. I appreciate the comparison you have made between the Prophets and the Priests in connection with the the tremendous responsibility that they carry as they have said yes to the Call of the Lord It is because of this that I pray fervently for Our Priests. The Dark Night of The Soul- clearly projects the mental and spiritual anguish experienced by Our Priests But I know that God will always help Our Priests to rise up as they stumble, to continue carrying the Cross. Today's reflection is particularly special as you have laid bare of the ups and downs present, in the Catholic Church. Mind of child ,heart of a scholar ,hide of a rhinoceros...so well explained how a priest should be.Take away point ...No ...also is a prayer answered.
