That lower heel is a walking or roping heel as opposed to a riding heel which is designed to not slide through the stirrups when mounting your horse. Don't worry too much about some heel slip it's supposed to be there. Helps to pump the moist air out of your boot to keep your feet dry.

Ok so I'm subscribed because I really like cowboy boots. I've worn them since childhood & they are not popular here in Kentucky. I rode & showed horses all my life but oddly only English. I was the only kid in the horse club with Western boots. I watched a lot of black & white Western films growing up & loved the pee wee boots with fuzzy chaps & Tom Mix hats. I don't care what people think about me when I'm wearing my boots. I'm autistic & somewhat typically eccentric. I have 6 pairs, all purchased used & they are all very different. I'm saving for a pair of Rocketbuster Day Of The Deads with colorful skeletons. I've wanted them for years & I'm finally going to make it happen. Not buying a new car leaves a lot of discretionary money for fun stuff like bicycles 🚴♀️, motorcycles 🏍️ & high end electronics. I've been working from home since way before the pandemic & it's really cut my spending down. I'm going on a mountain biking, hiking & trail riding trip to Utah as soon as the zombie 🧟 viral Apocalypse is over & I'll be wearing my boots when I pull out of the driveway! I like 💕 your channel because you are as enthusiastic about boots as I am! Woo hoo! Keep up the good work. 👍☮️🌞🏜🌵

JC...add an insole into a larger pair of boots than you normally wear and they will fit just fine. Experiment with different thicknesses of insoles. For example, I wear 10.5 D normally. A simple Dr. Scholl's insole works fine for me in a size 11. A thick work boot insole lets me comfortably wear 11.5. You can also wear different thickness of socks to compensate. [You will also find that the insole will help smooth out the foot bed of pre-owned boots. Do this and a pair of boots you would not find comfortable at first wearing will be comfortable.] The pair of boots with one boot tighter than the other is easily fixed. Water will allow leather to stretch. Put two socks on the tighter boot foot and one on the other. Spray the vamp of the tighter boot with water to soak it especially where the boot is tight on your foot.. Put the boots on and wear them until the tight boot dries out. The leather will stretch and the boot will fit your foot. If still a little tight, do the double sock/water thing again.

I'm always worried about that water trick. I don't mind if boots get wet naturally but I can't do it on purpose. That's why I've always been a fan of wearing them to stretch them. I want a pair of boots to have the spiritual experience too and that's something you just can't force

Fandamntastic video and SWEEEEEET pair of suede boots! In case you do not know already you need to treat the boots with a suede leather protector. Unprotected suede does not fare well if it gets wet. A suggestion for another pair of boots...snakeskin. I recently bought a used pair of snakeskins. I too receive an extra jolt of masculinity when I wear them. I am glad your caller identified that boot-wearing feeling. I could not properly describe that feeling. Boot wearing is also a great state of mind. Please continue to make these videos. This cowboy boot wearer greatly appreciates them. 👢😜

@wesdavis65026 жыл бұрын
Jeremiah Craig You need to get a suede leather cleaning brush and "eraser" bar kit After cleaning the suede use Kiwi spray protector. A small can (4.25 oz.) will be more than enough to treat your boots You can look on KZbin for cleaning videos. The spray protector is like a Scotchguard treatment. After I treated mine water beaded up on the leather. They are not waterproof. It makes them water resistant. You can get the cleaning kit and spray at Target, Walmart, etc.

i bought some used Justin smooth ostrich on ebay. Left book was larger than right. I assume the original owner was left foot dominant. Used inserts to make them work. I've bought probably 5 used boots over the years. What have I learned? I would have been better off buying new because the too many of the boots I bought had an issue. Buy new even if it means you have fewer unless you get to try them on first.

I have Dan Post Black Cherry boots. Used ones, somewhat vintage. And the problem you had stands with mine as well: the left boot is looser. IDK why, I thought also I had a smaller left foot, but thanks to this video, I know it's the boot. Weird problem with such quality boots maker, Dan Post.
@JeremiahCraig4 жыл бұрын
It's normal to have one foot wider than the other. Usually your dominate foot will be a bit larger. My right foot is for me because I'm right handed. Maybe you got your boots from a southpaw whose left foot was a bit larger so on you it's just more apparent. There could be lots of different reasons that would happen

My favorite boots are a couple pairs I have from 1996. I was stationed in Korea and I got them custom made. Crazy, right-Get custom cowboy boots in Korea. But they are so comfortable. I mean they’re 23 years old and have held up beautifully. And they are so friggin’ comfortable. I stopped wearing them for a while ‘cause I got made fun of for wearing them and now I just don’t care anymore. I wore those things all over Korea walking miles and miles. They are money well spent.

I have a lot of second hand boots. I look for new to like new condition, and under $100. Mostly I pay $50 to $75. I get a kick out of getting them for a lot less than retail. Not a lot of western boots in the thrift stores in my area, and if I do see them, it’s almost always in the men’s section and they are too big, so I get mine mostly online. I’m a 7.5 across the board, so buying online is easy. (Except for Dan Post, I find their sizing to be inconsistent) My latest score - a pair of Durango tan nubuck snip toes I found on Poshmark for $45. Since my earliest days on Pinterest, I have had a picture saved of a girl from the bare knees down in the same exact boots, distressed, scuffed, totally cool. I wasn’t sure of the brand, but have kept a lookout for them, and was so excited to finally find them on Poshmark. When I opened the box I was slightly disappointed - the stacked striped heel isn’t real, the stripes are painted on, and the soles are some kind of hard vinyl - BUT - they fit perfect and look great on me. I’m guessing maybe Durango is a more cheaply made brand, this is my first pair, so I didn’t know. But who cares. They look good, cost me peanuts, and I’ll enjoy them. My right foot always fits slightly tighter than my left. It’s not unusual.

I love shopping for used boots, try to hit the thrift stores often....Will definitely hit this store if I get a long seattle layover... Like you say, it is hit and miss, usually miss...So frustrating to see a great pair only to find they are to damn small. But, I have found a few good pairs that I enjoy wearing and playing in. I LOVE Frye boots, especially their banana colored campus boots with stacked heels. I also love Frye cowgirl boots with higher heels, but real tough to find them in a larger size....I have one pair of women's size 10s, that I can squeeze into...They are slowly stretching out...

Jeremiah, those Frye boots you got are would be classified as a "roper" style boot, with the rounder toe and the lower, almost standard shoe-height heels. With that rubber sole, I'd also say those would be more of a work boot. Nice pair of boots. I am a transplanted Southern Californian, now living in Oklahoma, in the heart of boot-wearing country. I wasn't a boot wearer until I moved here to live and work, but one day some close friends of mine visited me from central Missouri, and they wanted to have a good steak for supper, so I took them to an institution here in Oklahoma City, the Cattlemen's Steakhouse right in the heart of the "Cowtown" district. After we finished our meal, we walked across to the street to a western haberdashery where my buddy wanted to look around and maybe find a "souvenier" T-shirt. While he and his wife were browsing, I went around the corner and grabbed a pair of boots and slipped them on, and went around the corner to ask them if they fit my character and looked good on me. They both agreed that they liked them. I went back around the corner to take them off and put them back on the shelf, and before I got done, they came around the corner with a salesman and they asked if I liked the boots. I said I did, so since it was about a month from my birthday, they told the salesman to box them up. Those Ariats were my first pair of boots I owned. Frankly, I wore them out, I liked them so well. They were almost my daily-wear shoes. I currently own four pairs of boots -- a black, smooth ostrich pair of Justin "AQHA Remuda"-series wide square toes with 14" shafts, all leather, a pair of plain black deer hide wide square-toe Justins with 12" shafts with rubber soles that I use when the weather is ugly, a pair of full-quill ostrich Justin Techno Crepe 12" shaft boots in a neato sort of lighter rust color, and a narrower "Rancher" square toe, and a pair of 12" shaft standard dark brown cowhide wide square toe Tony Lamas. All of these boots have been purchased off eBay -- kinda risky, but these pairs have all been good fits, thank goodness. My personal preference is for the wide square or the so-called "rancher" square-toe boots, since being diabetic, I shouldn't wear things that fit me too snugly. Another thing I've invested in is some of the Ariat insoles that you can slip into most boots, and they give you good support and a little bit of "cushy" underfoot. If you buy boots a half size large, you might like to try these insoles. They're worth the 10-12 bucks they cost.

Hey Jeremiah. I like to purchase used cowboy boots. Here in Brazil they are cheaper than the new ones and sometimes they cost 80% less than the new ones... I am used to buying them online. But, like you... sometimes I hit and sometimes I miss. Unfortunately I can't try them on, so when I miss, I sell them online again. And funny you mentioned the wierd fact of the Dan Post boots being loosed in one foot and tight in another because I have one pair of Dan Post boots with same issue. Here in Brazil Goyazes and Jacomos are very popular and easy to find them online. You can buy them for around R$ 200,00 [around U$60,00]. I would like to have American brands boots, but they are rare to find here in Brazil. Maybe one day I go to US and I can have one of them.

3:54 OMG, this happened to me! I bought a virtually new condition used pair of current boots off of eBay and the right boot was a bit tighter to put on and take off, and the left one was looser. I put them away for months, and so I missed the return window. When I got around to using them I discovered that even though they were both labeled size 9, the right boot was definitely a half-size smaller than the right. I measured the sole length and found that the left one was 3/16" longer than the right. I measured several other features molded into the rubber sole and verified without a doubt that the left boot was larger in all aspects. It's no wonder these almost-new boots were on the market. Argh! I'm told that this isn't all that uncommon.

I have a question. Is it normal to go up in size as the toe box in cowboy boots gets smaller? For example i'm size 8 1/2 in square toe and size 8 1/2 in snip toe for me is really tight and small. 9 1/2 in snip toe ended up fitting. Is normal to go up in size like that? Thank you

When you wear a lower boot or shoe your hamstring will stretch some so if you wear taller heels you will shorten your hamstring in essence you will be lengthening and shorting. this could keep you flexible. Your new Frye boots are what's known as "ropers." Still cowboy boots, they're meant for working in the stalls and for roping bulls . Your other, more traditional boots are made for riding and walking, hence the higher heel designed to lock the boot into stirrups. A riding heel is usually higher and a bit more underslung than one made for walking. And the tapered toe is engineered to slide in easier. BTW, there are many toe designs as well, from square to pointed. Details can be found on Google.
@JeremiahCraig5 жыл бұрын
No doubt. Fyre calls these their Ropers. I meant they are not the traditional cowboy boot to me. Not even the traditional roper. There is no scallop in the top of the shaft at all (stovetop) and the toe doesn't taper enough before toe rounds making it more remincient of a motorcycle boot to me.

If I could have more I would haha but I guess I should stop for now. Also, nice pick, I liked the ones next to the ones you picked too haha. Cheers.

I liked those too but they weren't the right size. So sad but I have plenty of time to get more!

What? You'd wear somebody's boot? What if it was taken off a dead person? Or with someone with foot disease?
@JeremiahCraig5 жыл бұрын
No foot disease but I have found myself craving more human blood than usual since purchasing these. Never put it together. You may have answered everything for me!

Get out a toothbrush and saddle soap and clean the inside, u could even put them in the sink and lather them wiyh saddle soap and really deep clean them. Some used boots only cost like $40 or less so what do u have 2 lose?

Lucchesses are a good boot I agree they are very comfortable but for the money you can get a nice pair of sendras or a nice Mexican brand ther are so many boot makers in Mexico you can do better than luccheses for less money I gurantee it

My GF hates most of the female boot options. She usually ends up going with men’s boots that fit. She just wants a practical pair she can work and walk in. She can’t stand the over “flash” and exaggerated and skinny heals.
@JeremiahCraig5 жыл бұрын
I don't blame her. I'm not a fan of that overly gaudy look either for an everyday boot. It's just not practical most times... that said, there's nothing wrong with having a fancy pair for Saturday nights
@Warriorbob-im5py5 жыл бұрын
Jeremiah Craig exactly. In regards to exaggerated heals she says, if I wanted to wear high heels, I’d wear a pair of actual high heels.” Lmao I love that she’s so practical lol

@@JeremiahCraig I scored a pair of Dan Post rattlesnake boots on Ebay for $65.00. Decided to size up to fit over heavy socks, but all the women's boots were too narrow. Ventured into the men's category and got just the right fit. Wider heel for easier walking, too. Better to get them a little larger and wear with an extra pair of socks than too snug.
@kennkid99122 жыл бұрын
You have to try boots on. Most of the Ebay boots you bought didn't fit you. Many parts of the country don't have COWBOY boots. People don't wear them, there are no used boots. I will wait until we go to boot CITy Guanajuato, MEX. and get a couple of pairs that fit. Yes, if you buy good boots for small $$ you could take a chance. A used boot shop? HA!Frye Boots @ $200./ no thanks

Every body has one bigger foot I guess you did not no that I would not pair that for them boots I don’t get why they are not cowboy boots the rodeo guys have cowboy boots with a small heel some of them so I disagree I say they are cowboy boots that’s like saying that a lace up boot is not cowboy cause they do make a lace up boot that is considered cowboy boot ther a roper cowboy boot same as most of your boot s
