Totally. I heard they were super popular too. These were 11Ds and were pretty true to what I usually try in that size. I tried their Duke Roper too and that video will come out soon and I talk a little bit more about fit in that. That 11D roper was surprisingly good for my narrow foot. Thanks again for watching

When wearing harness boots make sure the harness part of the boots can be seen. At least half of the steel loop should be seen, makes the boots and jeans look better when seeing more of the boot

I had Frye harness boots years back which were comfortable from the start...but got a brogue version of Frye boots a year ago and those were painful to break in. But, I recently got Boulet harness based on your video and those are way nicer than the Frye harness even though those were OK to me...and for the price Boulet wins.
@JeremiahCraig5 жыл бұрын
For the price, I totally agree. Boulet has a great quality at their price point but this Frye was pretty damn comfy.... is that extra comfort worth and extra $150? Depends on who you talk too or what kind of deals you can get. If we take price out of the conversation, I like this Frye better but then again price is always a decision maker

Not a fan of the harness, but seeing them on your feet they look great......does the harness serve a purpose? Or just for looks?
@JeremiahCraig5 жыл бұрын
Some say it provides ankle support or protect the feet more when riding motorcycles, others say it doesn't matter and it's just for looks. If you're going 55 mph and get in an accident, I'm not sure if that little bit would help and at that point your ankles are probably the least of your worries. I'm leaning more towards the 'its just for looks' camp
@mothman63785 жыл бұрын
it keeps your foot from slipping onto the engine/exhaust and burning up the leather and your foot inside. older motorcycles, namely Harley, burn really hot; modern day, not so much.

@geslinam97034 жыл бұрын
Manny Singh I did just buy the Frye moisturizing stuff...all it did was make them look practically brand new, the opposite of what I’m trying to achieve! in this video, he squeezes the sides of the boot, the leather going right in under the pressure of his fingers, kind of in a bouncy way- my boots don’t do that, the leather is so thick. They are a smooth dark brown, maybe oil tanned pull-up type leather...I get the feeling they might be older. I got them second hand but in new condition. It’s been at least 3 years. I wear them to do yard work. I wear them in bad weather. I wear them year round. I don’t worry about them at all when I wear them, and they ARE comfortable - I just want them to look older and well worn....and they still look practically new. It’s ok, though. I love them. I really do. Just something about them. I’ll try mink oil. Thanks.

After all the boots I tried in the past year, I've learned that a boot doesn't have to be stiff. Yes they will break in but you don't have to be in pain while a boot settles around your foot. With the added ankle support harness boots make a lot of sense for a lot of applications. Leather that is a bit stiff shouldn't be an issue, once neetsfoot oil has been properly applied the leather softens up anyway and forms to the foot. A leather that is too soft becomes really soft once oiled. Most people don't treat a good boot (not all cowboy boots can be done though) properly though which has led to a demand for a more supplle, softer leather out of the box.
@JeremiahCraig5 жыл бұрын
True that. A boot should be conditioned and treated while they break in but it also shouldn't be so stiff that it's painful to wear from the get go. There are methods to make leather softer and at the price point of Fryes, I would expect them to take that extra step. They did it well on this model but on the previous model I tried they did not.
@turtlewolfpack60615 жыл бұрын
@@JeremiahCraig I agree for the most part, of course, but I am more used to pretty stiff leather before being properly broken in. I find that some softer leathers stretch too much for my liking, although over oiling can be an issue as well. It is good to see makers addressing issues identified by the consumer.
@conduit2425 жыл бұрын
@@JeremiahCraig The issue with Frye's is not the conditioning, it's the thickness. I have a bunch of Frye's and they are all using exceptionally thick leather, even thicker than something like a Red Wing or Allen Edmond's boot (speaking of non-cowboy boots). Frye's are built like Saddleback bags.
@manny30955 жыл бұрын
Rob Bird but that’s a good thing no? Extra thick boots would be extra durable, don’t you think?
@turtlewolfpack60615 жыл бұрын
@@manny3095 they are yes, which is why I like them. Full grain cowhide last a life time when properly tanned and treated during its life. Most people, however, just want comfort and looks. My old Finnish jackboots are older than me and will likely outlive me with proper care and an eventual resole.
