As a native Nebraskan living out of state, I am tempted to drive home to get these. I like the tough leather with the rubber outsole for the perpetual snow we have on the ground here in Leadville, CO.

I really love the scared look on boots almost looks rough, but man when you put them on they look awesome

I'd be curious to see what the leather looked like with the scars, I feel like it would tell a story.

I have a AB hippo boot in that color with the TK toe and a tan shaft. Got them from outpost western in Kansas. These are great boots. Hippo hide is great.

I've got some Anderson Bean hungry Hippo leather boots in chocolate brown. I'm looking for suggestion and knowledge on how to maintain the leather.

Nice boot, I have a similar pair that was made for another store but mine have a cutter toe and a angled heel. One of my favorite pairs.

Can you make a tutorial cleaning video for hippo boots please. Just ordered a pair but couldn't find any good Info for cleaning, would hate myself if I ruined them

Pretty nice looking boots actually. Usually don't like too much of a wide square but this is really nice. Seems very hardy with that leather

Nice looking boot. But I would like to see more snip toe if you have available, like your music too.

Very nice looking pair of boots! However I would prefer a different toe shape. The boots look great with the natural welt and the color of the shafts. It is also nice that the black rubber heel cap and the black leather hybrid soles complement each other. Well done JC!

Hey J. It’s been a while . I m going to look at their website after I type this. Can’t recall hearing anything about hippo hides.#1 like look of square toe luckily because foot health/toe room is important. They are our foundation after all .I have been wearing total junk lately & I am starting to feel it. Arch issue flaring up on the Right for first time in years + occasionally knee feels a little tweaked or twisted. It’s all the junk footwear. I f I wear quality stuff like Birkenstocks in summer, decent runners like ASICS I’m ok. Used Ro wear a lot of jump boots with Panama soles (US army surplus from 80s& 90s,they broke in nicely and had as much support as you needed depending on how tight you laced them. Army airborne with broken ankles wouldn’t work too good. The military makes some good stuff. More years ago than more modern stuff. Back to these I like the bone /natural & black mix ,hybrid for the reasons you talked about .it appeared to be rubber on heels & mid step .Stretched & sewed ,over a good leather sole. Not inset. Keep an eye on them & replace the rubber only when they wore through. More time between having to get a total resole .correct.& if the hippo is near sweaded ,wondering if it would soak up some waxes & conditioners?last western boots I had were elephant & talk about tough. I’d like to see the hippo hides how the get them before they start sanding & splitting it. Scarring sounds like it would look cool to me. But I’m sure they know what they are doing. That’s what they do,so…anyway .getting long. Got an appointment. Just wanted to inquire about these in particular & say hey & enjoy the rest of your trip. I’m ready to spend some $ & rotate footwear. It last longer that way. I’ve done it. I doubt I’ll be all western all the time but I need good stuff. & some arch support. Either from wearing like you do. Hard leather no foam. Can’t remember how that works. Think they might even have some cork in them.?.? Was watching a traditional cowboy boot video from seven years ago last night I’ve seen it before but it’s been a couple years at least. A older guy at a boot museum. Had all the boots logged and a library filled with numbered bound books. Originated from Justin‘s maybe. You probably know what I’m talking about I can’t remember where it was. I got a run. Should I buy these. 1 to 10? LMK & I do A crazy amount of research on things. Really like these though. The shank isn’t too wide from what I saw anyway. Ordering online is tricky to say the least.. I do not like doing it .But I’m in rural North Carolina and rarely get by anywhere that’s got any real boots. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough. Got to go later be careful on the road buddy

I know that you had a video awhile back that stated that buying certain exotic skin boots (like the big bass you talked about) could promote their extinction. Is hippo one of those skins ?

My Anderson bean hippos look totally different. Narrower toe and single stitch. They are also not sanded down to look like a rough cut. Mine has more of a smaller elephant look to them.

Interesting boot but the deal breaker for me would have to be the fact that it uses a bonded leather heel.

Anyone else interested in what whole hippo leather is like now? If this is split leather, full leather must be really thick.

MaryWills is my 10yo daughter. Got her an iPod. You’ve got to be 13 to have your own account. I wasn’t going to let her lie about her age. That’s not setting a good example. I’ve been hacked by her and my cat. You used to answer some questions when I was shopping a couple years ago at least. Been busy. Got off track on the boot thing. I’ve been watching you for a long time. My name is BURKE WILLS. Long-time listener first(in a while) time caller!L8R
