@jac540Ай бұрын
How would you describe that chemistry? I'm asking because the 'weird' thing is that I've heard quite a lot of people claiming they aren't friends. In the Grand Tour / Top Gear they seem to be friends, however, if you see the individual shows from Clarkson, May and Hammond you indeed get the idea that they are barely involved with each other outside of Top Gear / Grand Tour.
@StreetPreacherrАй бұрын
And Clarkson is EXACTLY right. The reason their show worked is that Jezza, James & Hammond were had all worked as CAR JOURNALISTS, which made their passion feel sincere! And it was just lucky that the three of them turned out to have such great chemistry together! Also, their 'tv personas' were authentic extensions of their real personalities (Big Ape, angry little man, Captain Slowly). And it just never worked when they did Top Gear Australia/US and tried to impose eccentricities onto actors/comedians... Which is the same reason that none of the BBC's attempts to 'reboot' the series were successful, because who really wants to see Joey, or an ex footballer, or a middling stand up comic pretend to have exhibit genuine excitement? I really don't see any point in continuing 'The Grand Tour', since without those three, it would just be another random 'car show'. I just don't think 'The Grand Tour' brand itself is prestigious enough to attract a very large audience. And as Tyler has proven, there's already loads of Car Enthusiasts on KZbin that are all basically doing their own versions of the 'Top Gear' formula. And with modern filming techniques, drones, etc. it's no longer necessary to have the financial backing of a large company to pull off an engaging program. I mean, you don't need to hire helicopters to achieve a similar production value anymore, since the same visuals can be produced with Consumer Grade DRONES. And a new iPhone can deliver better quality video than we saw on Top Gear before they switched to High Definition. I still remember being on a business trip when the FIRST HD TOP GEAR EPISODE came out, and hacking into the hotel TV to see how rough the boys really looked! lol

I was at the Henery Ford museum and needed to use the restroom when I came out my daughter said " Dad I just saw Jay Leno" she was not wrong, I saw him also. If you listen to an, recent, interview with Andy Wilman, who's a lifelong friend of Clarkson's and close collaborator (they are also working together on Clarkson's farm) that back in 2019 when Amazon approached them for a contract extension, Amazon offered them stand-alone shows (and you can see James' stuff on Prime along previously mentioned Farm). I believe that Clarkson was done with Top Gear/Grand Tour even back then. He didn't start in 2002, he was part of the Top Gear crew back in the 90s. So... I am honestly glad that they finished while they still liked doing it. I am very grateful as I have been watching them for my entire adult life.

I personally found it fitting to end the show now, on a personal and relatable level. For me, it's just great timing. I've recently been struggling with my personal life. I put my self out there for what I was hoping to be the last time (and after probably 15 years), and dealing with life long depression and self esteem issues wasn't easy. I waited my life for this chick. But I guess the feelings and emotions were only one way and she only seen me as a "friend", so despite falling in love with this gal, it wasn't meant to be. And that really pushed me over the edge. It's been about 3 weeks now and I'm still struggling with how to deal with this, and facing my biggest fear of dying alone. Maybe it's part of the fact I'm about to turn 40, and just feel and am totally defeated in life. Never finding any success with my passions hasn't helped. But yeah, these 3 guys have entertained us all for years. And as I started re-watching the old Top Gear I found it to be a bit of a comfort show during these hard times. Sort of hard to keep your mind off the very negative things and thoughts in your life when you are at your lowest, but I found watching them helped distract me. They've been apart of my life in a way since I first found Top Gear when I was at the 2nd lowest point in my life. And them ending it while I'm trying to recover from the hardest part of my life just kind of all fits. If I could pick one of the 3 to meet, it would probably be James May. Over time I found myself relating to his brand of strange more than the other 2. And I couldn't thank them enough for all the years of joy they brought us, and how they made being a car enthusiast not feel so strange. Jeremy the farmer is much more entertaining now that he's not trying to be over the top and outlandish. James the traveler is very fun to watch for his particular brand of weird. And Richard the mechanic is - well I've not seen much of it because of geographical restrictions. But he seems to really have his heart in it and that's what matters. Now we're seeing one of his daughters Lizzy, take to the DriveTribe channel more regularly and people seem to like her, so maybe she'll find success too in the same field as her dad. Just hope she keeps the wheels on the ground.

Lightning in a bottle. You can't put a team like that intentionally - it always comes off as contrived. The Grand Tour is going to continue with new presenters!!!!! You Ed and Freddy should get in touch with Amazon. You 3 are the closest thing I have seen and I am an English guy that has been watching Top Gear since the beginning in 1977. I vote for you guys 100%.

01:45 Ironically, back in the day when I was younger, I couldn't afford a Lancia Montecarlo (Scorpion in the US) either - so I was denied regardless :) They were gutless - BUT they still had something about them (I did finally get to test drive one - and decided to get a VW GTI at the time instead).

Well the little one Hamond, did talk about "where my Afterlife is" was after being in a coma from crashing a Hyper Car. You've only got so many "I was this close to Death" before the Grim Reaper says, "Sorry Mate, this time it's permanent." and pulls the plug for good.
@sirtomalot1584Ай бұрын
Yes it was the right time. probably. But still...frikkin sour! I hope they all make another sort of series or recap. Like Richard with his "Engineering connections" Jeremy with "Clarkson meets the neighbors" And James May. Our man in.....whatever country he prefers. I just love all the shows these 3 make. It's always guaranteed to be epic if not timeless!

There's for sure a generation of people who've grown up with TG and then the GT, plus all of the other content those three have made. Some of Clarkson's serious pieces like the wartime story of the Artic fleets is so well done you remember realise why they have been so successful. All three are talented but JC in particular is such a talented journalist he was always going to do well in life. I'm just grateful for all the laughs and fun watching those three being childish for our entertainment. The time was also right, it was time for the three to end GT on a high and concentrate on the other projects they have. P's Your video was a nice way to commemorate the three legends that are Clarkson, Hammond and May.

Hoovie, have you thought about trying to buy one of the cars used in the last episode? It’d be great to see them preserved and I think they would be priceless. Great content for your other channel.

He did have an E type and a Bugeye Sprite, but yes generally has stayed away from the less common cars. I was hoping he'd keep the Citroen DS. But an MGB or similar would be a good idea

The moment that got to me was when Jeremy unplugged his microphone toward the end. It felt like such an abrupt and final end much more than the three vehicles going their separate ways in the desert afterward.

Tyler I stopped this Video when you said stop it because of the spoilers you were about to talk of with the Last Grand Tour episode. I could sense you and Aprils solemness there. I was meaning to watch it and Wow just watched it and had tears rolling down my face on how special that was. I've watched all seasons of British TG over and over over the years. Greatest show ever for us fellow gearheads. On a side note F electric cars they are and will destroy the earth. literally, the power and resources needed for them is unrealistic. all the Car channels that are reviewing them are enabling and bankrupting the Vehicle manufacturers. you all need to boycot reviewing them for that reason. Keep up the great work April and Tyler.

I thought the last time was the last time, so I had already said goodbye to the Grand Tour, this was a nice bonus and they really went out on a high note.

For me electric cars are really good daily commuter cars but only when you don't do a lot of miles a day and when you can charge at home. I will never use them as an enthusiastic drivers car because they aren't drivers cars. It doesn't matter how fast they are.

I was thinking the same thing. Car trek-> Grand Tour. Hoovie, Tavares and Ed get my vote.

Watched top gear since it first started , seen every episode ( up until the last couple of years ), nothing came close to this trio. Sad to see them end but they definitely did right ending it now whilst they are still on top. They will be remembered for all the great and silly stuff they did and not for flogging a dead horse. They have enough money and have their own lives etc .. I am willing to bet they will still get together occasionally if not publicly then in private. End of an era.

Thanks to Clarkson, Hammond and May for so many years of fun, adventures, and company for hours on end. But besides those three, I’ve never seen such an amazing trio until CarTrek came on the air… Tyler, Freddy and Ed! Since the first episode of CarTrek your chemistry was out of this world and the feeling of happiness that I got was the same one that I felt every time I saw TG or GT. Please don’t let this feeling die, not just for me, but for all the rest of us that could identify or relate with this. I know that it’s a huge endeavor making a short episode of a regular program on KZbin, making a whole series, mind blowing. Hope to see you 3 together again any time soon. “And on that bombshell, thank you so much for watching”

The thing I hate about modern cars electric or petroleum based. You don't own them. There are so many things about new cars that spy on you, share things you have to agree to in order to use the modern conveniences. I will continue to drive and fix my 25 year old truck just so I don't have to deal with all this nonsense. I don't have a cable tv subscription and have only watched a couple of those episodes.

*The wisest thing that should be on everyone's mind currently should be to invest in different streams of income that don't depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver, and digital currencies (BTC, ETH...).*

I began investing in stocks and Def earlier this year, and it is the best choice l've ever made. My portfolio is rounding up to almost a million and I have realized that when a stock makes it to the news, chances are you're quite late to the party, the idea is to get in early on blue chips before it becomes public. There are lots of life changing opportunities in the market, and maximize it.
