To prevent the batteries from over chargering which can cause them to explode, place a 30a fuse on the + wire before the battery connection, if anything would fail to shut off the fuse will blow out and prevent anything happening with the battery

Nice Video. Always wanted to upgrade from 12v to 24v, but every where I've read says the motors will fry. I'm trying it now!

Awesome, thanks. I might try it, since the power wheels I got from Craigslist seems to have a battery that drains too fast. I bought a 12V charger for it, then I found out that the battery runs out of juice after about an hour of riding (may be it's normal). But the 6 volt batteries are much cheaper as replacement (if this works) with added bonus. Just to make sure, the 12V charger with 1.5A ( I think) should work fine to charge the series together, correct?

I clipped the stock connector and put new universal connectors on the wires. Then I connected them in series (PW positive wire to battery 1 positive; battery 1 negative to battery 2 postive; battery 2 negative to PW negative wire). I charge the batteries with a standard 6/12v battery charger set on 2amp setting so that I don't blow the batteries.

How did you connect the two 6 volt batteries, splice the cables together? Also, 6 volt has a different connector I think. Do you then charge it with a 12 V charger or 6 V charger?

It worked for me :) But, be careful... sometimes the charger won't power off on its own and can cause the battery to swell. You do this, of course, at your own risk... like I did! :)

Can you tell me what's a universal connector, like the ones they sell at radio shack? A single hole (male to female type connector)?

Actually, I used female spade connectors on all the wiring, which fits directly onto the new batteries.
