Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare - Recorded LIVE at the Vienna Philharmonic Ball, January 2011

This is a performance of the Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare by Richard Strauss at the Wiener Philharmoniker Ball in January 2011. The video was taken from a perspective behind me as we played the fanfare for the entry of the dignitaries and debutantes. It was the 70th anniversary of the Ball, and we had a a great time playing it. If you listen closely, you'll hear something I'm proud of... I play the famous low E-flat to high E-flat horn lick at the end of the 2nd time through. :)
The brass section you see in the video is mostly VPO brass players with some substitutes. To my left is Mark Gaal and in the row in front of me all the way to the left is Dietmar Küblböck.

My kind of performance! Bass Trombones and Tubas taking some octave liberties, playing it twice through, and using Wagner Tuben! Not to mention the Trumpets are freakin' NAILS on it, so clear and accurate.

This is mostly NOT the VPO brass section. There are so many extra players hired for this. Probably students.

Most of them play in Vienna State Opera Orchestra. The memebers Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra first have to play in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra before they join the VPO. So on this video you see VPO members and also Members of the Opera Orchestra. There is not much difference of there ability to master their instruments! This IS mostly the VPO brass section!!!!

@lolcunts i watched it! just because they played it faster doesn't mean it's better... their version was indecent, too fast, but besides all that, not that bad! but in my humble opinion, i guess it could be hard to play the "vienna philharmonic fanfare" better than the VPO brass section! and dancing around to it also doesn't make it better!
