I have a feeling people hate on Amu Schumer because she has a lot of stupid jokes, but from what I have seen she CAN think intelligently, but she typically markets herself to low brow culture. From what I can tell Trainwreck isnt a Trainwreck...its more like a bumpy ride, but you still get to your destination.

Basically, I divide KZbin's movie reviewers into 3 categories: All-You-Can-Reviewers, Deconstructors, and Geeklifers. The All-You-Can-Reviewers review every movie and TV show they can. Basically, they're the go-to guys when about to suggest a movie to a friend. All-You-Can-Reviewers include: *****, Chris Stuckmann, and Schmoes Know. The Deconstructors make fun of a movie after most people have probably seen it. Their videos almost always contain a lot of spoilers and are usually humorous. Deconstructors include: Screen Junkies, CinemaSins, and How It Should Have Ended. The Geeklifers review the movies that us geeks are generally passionate about. All of their other videos are information, Commentaries and News about the movies us geeks are passionate about. Geeklifers include: *****, *****, and Clevver Movies. This is just something I thought of and thought I'd post it here.

I didn't find her character worth pining over. The truth is that a woman like her is indeed a trainwreck, and a doctor of his caliber, notoriety and options would not want to be with her. (psst, she's not that hot) I did enjoy a good bit of the comedy because she's a great comedian, but the drama part dragged on my gut sense, and to be honest, I walked out before the final act because I knew what was coming and didn't care to see it.

I actually went into this reasonably cold: I did not know it had anything to do with Apatow. And I was expecting a comedy. I disagree about the need for some drama in a comedy to avoid being slapstick. This was flat out dramady in the mold of "So This is 40" which, like this, was way, way, way too serious for my taste if I'm in the mood for a comedy. So why really have THIS much drama? Because, comedy is hard. It is harder than drama. I feel like I need to watch something genuinely funn to get over this. I didn't hate it, I liked it. But emotionally, boy, did I need to switch gears. This was not "The Interview". It wasn't even "Bridesmaids". "So This is 40", long and way too serious, is more like it.

This was the laziest script I've ever seen put to film. Anyone else remember Friends With Benefits? Trainwreck: Amy does not want to be tied down to men and has an explicit conversation with a friend about it. We are introduced to a movie within the movie that will also be referenced later (Harry Potter walking dogs). She meets her love interest and introduces herself in a socially awkward way. Her love interest has a conversation with someone else about it while they play basketball. His friend tells him to go for it. As they grow closer we are introduced to a song (Uptown Girl) and a "dance" (the basketball trampoline guys and cheerleaders scene). After bringing preestablished tension with Amys family to a head, her and her love interest start to fight. They continue to fight irrationally and break up. Soft rock montage of them sulking. Secondary characters try to help. Amy then reincorporates the literal song and dance to win him back. Friends With Benefits: Jamie and Dillon do not want to be tied down and have explicit conversations about it. We are introduced to a movie within the movie that will also be referenced later (Jason Segal and Rashida Jones romcom). They meet and are introduced in a socially awkward way. Dillon has a conversation with someone else about it as they play basketball. His friend tells him to go for it. As they grow closer we are introduced to a song (Closing Time) and a "dance" (flash mob). After bringing the preestablished tension with Dillons family to a head, they start to fight. They continue to fight semirationally and stop being friends. Soft rock montage of them sulking. Secondary characters try to help. Dillon then reincorporates the literal song and dance to win her back.

I pretty much agree with your opinion. I honestly thought the celebrities in the film were funnier than the stars -- not that they weren't funny, just that the celebrities were funnier -- and although I never busted a gut I laughed a reasonable amount, and when I wasn't laughing (even if others in the audience were) I was never annoyed. It's always good these days when a comedy doesn't annoy me (see Ted 2, where I probably laughed harder at points than this, but far more of that film annoyed me). Yeah, it should have been shorter, but I had fun.

I agree with pretty much everything he said. Well acted and well executed movie with some very funny moments but there were definitely times where the drama eclipsed the comedy. What keeps it afloat is that Schumer surprisingly acted those scenes out well. To the people whining that he didn't mention lebron, yes lebron plays a rather substantial supporting role and he plays it well. There are other good cameos to boot. Including (I guess spoiler alert) John Cena who was gut bustingly funny believe it or not, Matthew Broderick, Marv Albert and Amare Stoudemire.
