Brilliant lesson. I learned a lot just listening to you play so well. Stride piano is a lovely style but I often forget how perfect it can be for ballads.

Bought your book and these fantastic videos make the concepts much more palpable. Great stuff to watch before diving into the respective chapters🥥 While I usually get the general idea, it would be great to have some exercises for the individual elements of the concepts to get them under my fingers. Nevertheless, amazing content!

Great interpretation of I Got It Bad at the intro! And, so many ideas to consider throughout the video. (Or, what "a lovely bunch of"... ideas throughout the video!) Looking forward to the next installment of Ballad Styles.

Great lesson (as always) I was definitely waiting for it after you mentioned it in the previous video. I hoped you will touch the Freddy Green style and it happened too! I think perhaps the Garner like “Gitarre” playing could have been part of it but I can imagine with your expertise you will make for him a full private section :) million thanks :)

Yes! You're right, Ariel! The Freddie Green stuff is pretty similar to the way Erroll plays with his left hand. I haven't studied it too too deep, so I think someone else is going to have to make that video. :)

I got the book this week, should arrive maybe next Monday or so. These videos are SO great. FYI, I studied with Mike Longo for 8 years fro '85 to '93, and he completely changed my life with what I learned from him. That said, I'm getting a totally different perspective here that is really, really exciting, and it's giving me a new level of inspiration. This really fills in some gaps for me, so thanks so much.
