I have had this happen to me as well but not on a complete copy of everything. I started teaching soap making workshops a few years ago and discovered that several people taking the workshops were just attempting to copy what I was doing. One person actually did use my product in her pictures to announce the opening of her business. She had also been demanding I give her all my supplies and other info. I couldn't believe how bold she was and how angry she became when I called her out on it. I really enjoy your videos. As a business woman myself, I`m sorry that this happened to you guys! I`ve learned that there are lots of people on KZbin who download videos that don`t belong to them, and then reload those and make money from the ads. In your case, it`s entirely possible that the culprits like you guys enough to mimic you and simply add their own contact info for sales purposes; it`s possible that they took the other photos from someone else, and don`t make any products at all. In other words, it may all be a scam, in which they fake-sell, and make lots of money from people who don`t want to leave home to shop at brick-and-mortar locations or are just in another country. This is why I myself only shop in the business locations near me; plus- if i need to return or exchange something there`s no issue with going back to the store. Some of what I`ve learned has been through fails, other stuff is through college, and the rest is through people like you.

Some people simply aren't creative at all and will rely on stealing other people's ideas instead of being original. These types of companies that only know how to copy and are lazy to have their own products and ideas are disconnected from the source of inspiration, companies like that don't last long, and don't go far. I admire the two of you and would like to thank you for sharing your wisdom on this channel. BIG TIME FAN! CHEERING for QUENCHSOAP!!! See you guys at the top! (probably at a tradeshow)

I had a business years ago where I had a pretty unique product that sold very well. Well, how I found out that someone stole my name and products was very odd to say the least. My brother was a website designer and he contacted me to let me know that he was hired to build a website for someone who had my exact business name and sold the same products! I was furious. As you said, I spent a LOT of time thinking, brainstorming and perfecting my product and then someone took it all. I know this happens a lot especially in today's world. You gave great advice and I wish I had handled things differently, I probably would still be doing the same product and then some.

It is unethical to copy someone's work .By no means anyone should be using someone else's pictures for promoting their own product and business .But I would like to point out here that 1. There is no harm if anyone uses transparent stickers with similar fonts .There are lot of blogs on the internet by people who have been in marketing business who say that having transparent stickers with simple fonts is best to use as it does not overshadow the product. Secondly a raspberry mint scrub for example can be named by anyone a rasberry mint if u choose cause that is what it is ... Anyone can make products using hemp oil if they choose to .. there is no harm in my opinion ..anyone can have a vegan body and bath line and call it mention it so if it is? ..there are no restriction .. The point what was wrong is stealing pictures and content word to word as mentioned by Jarika.. The videos are put up to inspire people and teach them how certain things can be made and how good they look The recipes are shared so people can make the same product.people will want to make and if it turns out good they will try and sell . Infact there must be so many I'm sure who must have made products very similar to the QUENCH products to sell because it's all there out on the net ..Its good marketing for QUENCH it's good inspiration for viewers ...it works both ways .. To earn goodies you have to get a little burnt somewhere ... I have written this in good faith for QUENCH but at the same time wanted to bring to light that there are no restrictions on few of the things as I mentioned earlier.

One thing my previous significant other had to do was put a watermark embedded in his family's farm's webpage.... it wasn't easy to learn how, but after the 1st learning phase, it was simple to adapt it to his billing paperwork etc, and that carried over, giving unity to his farm papers..in the end worth every grey hair I got out of it!!😁💖😎even more so because he based his "watermark" off his great great grandfather's original *branding iron*, which everyone had thought lost to time!😉 THAT ALONE was worth every grey hair.😘💖👏 his father's chest puffing out was worth a puffed chest and then some! I had this happen - I bought soaps from what I thought was the store for a woman who makes exquisite soap, very labor intensive, on KZbin. When I told her I was excited to have gotten some of her soaps, she told me that she did not have a store. When I finally got the soaps, they were not the amazing things I'd seen: they were plain bars, no colorants, almost zero scent, in plain boxes. I complained to Etsy, and as far as I know, the store is gone, but it was very annoying.

Wow! This is so mind boggling. I am sorry that you had to go through all of this especially your instagram timeline. You know this is very enlightening and I never thought of this happening. Also, I don’t think I will ever use “copy cat” to describe myself ever again. I am not a copycat but when I have been complemented on my products and people tell me I am very creative I usually casually reply nah not really I just copy cat. For one I guess I just need to learn to accept compliments better. I do see ideas and products that I like, either the look or the ingredients but never ever have I taken someone else’s work from them and I never will. I may get ideas and grow those ideas into my very own unique products but never take from others hard work. Thanks for the information. I am just beginning to see their videos and they have made me cry for this situation, I cannot imagine the suffering they must feel when they realize that in this world there are no people like them so dedicated to love their work. I warmly congratulate you for being so honest and professional and at the same time for those little ears of how we can do so that it does not happen to us in our businesses. I love your teamwork. God Bless you and may you fulfill all the desires of your hearts.

I admire how you handled this, I am building a small business in Kansas and I have found inspiration in others like yourself. However, and this is a huge however.. I have never, nor will ever directly copy anyone. I would feel honored if someone drew inspiration from me, but again we owe it to ourselves to be individuals, work hard, build ourselves up with our own design, brand, creations... you can’t be proud at the end of the day when you’ve stolen from another. You guys are great, I just found y’all and I hope you keep up the good work!!! I use Shopify too, love it. ❤️

This is so weird... There's an IG page that I've reported for using other soaper's photos and videos to advertise their soap making classes without permission - passing the work off as their own. But this is some next level stuff. Did they actually have those products available for sale or did they just advertise they had them? That would've been interesting to find out. Like they take your money and never send the item?

I follow that channel just to watch their theft .......I’ve notified a few makers of their photos being used for their “classes” promotion

So sorry this happened to you beautiful people, definitely a violation of your personal self not to mention your whole company. It's lovely to see you both holding your heads high and moving on and a new creation. All the best to you both and much success for the future. Maybe one day put all your photos back up with a water mark for you journey Bless you both from Australia

I’m sooo sorry you guys had to go through this. I noticed the other day that you had added watermarks to your site. Now I know why. Good job for looking on the positive side and what you can learn from it.

Disabling right-click will only stop people who don't know much about computers. In the end, thieves are gonna thieve, just have a DMCA drafted and on stand by that you can use to send their hosting provider or social media if they don't respond or take action. You handled the situation very well, good advice all around.

Thank you for posting this! I'm definitely going to go back through my pics and watermark them. It's said that people don't want to work hard and they would rather take the easy way and steal people's property to make money.

Smart to have handled it in a professional manner. It's best to remove emotions out of business. You get further and have no regrets later. Thanks for the advice. 😊

Even if they copied your recipes, designs and everything product wise... there are always variables... their end product would not look exactly the same as your end product. Also, there is an enjoyment in making something your own, even if you use someone else's product as inspiration, it's always good to add your own twist to it, then it makes it more your own, and not a direct copy cat. I'm glad that the person reacted positively and did the right thing without you having to get a lawyer involved.
