"But that type of life didn't gel with what I had in my mind and my heart." OMG that's the feeling I've been struggling with the past few years. I finally find myself having the money and stability to start up my business (did I say finally? yeah FINALLY. It's been years since I wanted to start this...). It's so validating to hear someone who has been there and done that and eventually became successful enough to quit their job for the life they want. I'm desperate for a challenge at this point, and instead of being afraid of failing, I've become terrified of never trying and truly testing my abilities.

Thank you so much for this! My partner and I started our business during the illness because we couldn't keep our usual jobs. Our son is a type 1 diabetic and we worked directly with the public so his Dr advised us to stay distanced. Now the three of us make soaps and bath products together 😊

Thank you! Great content! I think what you started out highlighting is the generosity principle. You reap what you sow. I’m sure your business experienced growth due to your hard work, but I would wager that the generosity you showed your community magnified that effort!
@JerikaZimmerman3 жыл бұрын
Well said! I think so too. When we posted the giveaway, a lot of people in our local community were tagged and further boosted our names to people who never heard of us before. People also insisted on giving some money too, so it wasn't a complete loss. But I totally agree that generosity and a sense of community takes businesses very far!

We found your channel after we started making farm-made soaps as part of our farm business. It was a great product to add, because we're able to turn a rainy day into a soap making day! I left my full-time job about a year and a half ago to focus on the farm but still need to do some side hustles to contribute towards bills. My wife is working her last shift tonight before she leaves her full-time job to focus 100% on the farm! Our KZbin channel has begun to grow, and we're hoping to be monetized soon to add some supplemental income for the business. Your video on how much you made on your first KZbin check was very inspiring! Keep up the good work! We're sure you'll hit 100k subscribers sooner than you can imagine.

I am making my husband watch this video. We have been working on an ay to have one or both os us quit or reduce our 9-5 jobs and it is so helpful to hear your planning journey and also your trepidations. This year we started attending our local farmers market and feel like that went pretty well. It is no where near enough income yet but it was a way to dip our toe into see if we actually could get up at 5 every Saturday and sell out product. It was also an opportunity to see what type of product sold, who was buying, and what else they were asking for. So, this was year one of a three year plan. Next year we are looking to expand into more shows and also into multiple markets all while keeping our full time jobs. The third year, the plan is to bring our soap to local boutiques so that we have more stability in our revenue streams with larger orders and checks coming in year round. All the while of course we will be trying to build the online presence. It’s refreshing and encouraging to see that it can be done! You both clearly are so invested and work well together so I am sure we will keep seeing videos from you about your success. I so appreciate the behind the scenes look at your business and am off to watch another one of your helpful videos. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

You both are so nice and so smart! I really enjoyed this video. It’s good to see you succeeding in a wonderful business. I am a huge advocate of the US implementing a healthcare system such as you have in Canada and most civilized countries do. We are a lone wolf with our capitalist insurance system. It’s really an albatross we carry if we want to start a small business. It would be cost prohibitive. I’m wondering why you had to worry about losing health insurance in your wonderful country which I’m totally envious of! You both are pictures of health and so glad Cale has his diabetes controlled. Many blessings to you. Have fun with your creative business. Your house must smell amazing.

I love watching your videos, both a out the process of creating soap and building a business! I'm working towards selling my soaps, and it's interesting to hear how you got there. I live in Germany though and it's interesting to hear your preparation and compare it to here.... Do you still produce all your products in your home? That, for example, is not allowed for cosmetic products in Germany. Do you have to get each individual recipe approved/certified before selling it?
@JerikaZimmerman3 жыл бұрын
Yep, we’re allowed to make products at home. And we just need to submit our recipes to Health Canada to obtain a cosmetic number. We also need to register our business with the province to sell. That’s about it.

Hey Jerika, question....I started selling, joined the HBBG and got insurance through them thinking I would be covered. I found out that only my Markets are covered but the product is not covered until it is certified through Health Canada, Have you done this and could you explain the process (if you have) of what getting each product certified through Health Canada is like. If you have not, do you feel comfortable selling this way? I am tossed on this atm. Thanks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Also, when I tried to open an Etsy shop they asked for emailed ID? Did you have to provide ID?

Hi! thanks for your videos, i was wondering if you could help me with a question. I tried to add micas to bath bombs but except the bath bomb colour, it would not color the water so i bought some already diluted water soluble colors and for some reason it coloured my tub. I used polysorbate 80 and assumed that this is not suppose to happen. Would you know the reason why? thanks

Your tub may have had some soap scum in it. The dyes do cling to that. You could have also used too much.

@JerikaZimmerman3 жыл бұрын
We pay $20-25 a day for a table. Yep, it's a slog at first, sales will be slow, but if you show up and stick with it, the market goers will start to buy. People think they can attend a market a few times and think that's enough to generate sales, but market goers need to see a face or a company multiple times to action anything. This was certainly the case with us.
