I just love Luke and his dedication to fishing, asks what he caught, he gives line, hook and bait info! A real pro! Good to see kids fishing! Nice Video PJ, keep up the great work!

Luke is gonna be a legendary angler one day. that's awesome whenever I see kids in the pier I fish I always try and spread a little knowledge and motivation. I was at ocean pier in SD a week back and there was this 7 year old kid fishing he was struggling to get the fish to bite. so me and my buddies set him up with a sabiki some fresh bait and taught him ho to over head cast, underhand cast. it was so satisfying, when he left he was so grateful. it was awesome moment. I told him one day you are gonna teach me how to fish buddy!

A trick I learned from the locals at Oceanside, use cooking tongs to take the mackerel off your hooks. That way you don't get that stink hand.
@theperchjerker3 жыл бұрын
What you got against that stank hand??? Hahahaha yes I see a lot of people doing this, I have a little curved metal piece that I slide down to the hook and pops the hook right out. Works great.

Daniel with the huggggge halibut! Didn’t know it can be caught in the pier!
@addicted2fishing1193 жыл бұрын
I thought I told you a while back those smelt you were catching are Haibut Candy! They love live mackerel and sardines and anchovies better but whatever you catch on a sabiki rig throw as live bait on another pole but keep catching bait in between
@PierLifeFisherman3 жыл бұрын
I’ll definitely try that when I go back to Oceanside!
@addicted2fishing1193 жыл бұрын
@@PierLifeFisherman honestly this strategy works everywhere. Catch a small fish . Big fish eat small fish 🤙🏼 old school works 🤣

@@addicted2fishing119 I haven’t target halibut yet but I will with Luis at spring, right now believe it or not I live 6 hrs from Oceanside but I go there so often lol. So this winter I’ll fish in Monterey then when spring comes I’ll come back to Oceanside often again
@addicted2fishing1193 жыл бұрын
@@PierLifeFisherman you have the same pole as me 🤣… even there are big Hali’s…go to the end of the piers for bait and once you have em set up a simple Carolina rig with 2 ounce maximum sinker weight 1 ounce preferably buy a strong hook and always tail hook your live bait so it swims away from your sinker…. The big fish are near the shore line 3-7 feet deep areas where surf perch are after sand crabs 💰🎁🎄🎣

Thank you! I love watching your channel too! I’ve been catching everything off the sand throwing the Lucky Craft 115 surf pointer and they’ve been loving the Jack Smelt color so I figured throwing a live bait close to the shoreline would produce! It feels good when a plan comes together!
