This movie was never meant to be an accurate or realistic biopic; it was, according to the director, "What if Bruce Lee's life had been like a Bruce Lee movie?" Factoring in Jason Scott Lee's terrific performance, it achieves that goal perfectly: It's entertaining, inspiring, and moving with an equally memorable soundtrack, and is one of those flicks where, if I'm scrolling through the channels and it's on, I can always stop and watch it for a bit. However, while almost the whole thing is historically inaccurate and intentionally so, the fights seem loosely based on real ones. This gym beef, for example, might come from an incident at UW where Bruce reportedly attended a frat or dorm party with a Chinese gal and was approached by three or four footballers who started racially harassing them. Bad idea. In a few seconds, the dudes were laid out and the couple went looking for something else to do. Just another college night for the Little Dragon, lol.

Lies!! It was according to his wife's knowledge and perspectives in what she lived, experienced, seen, and heard with liberties taken to make the movie more exciting. Like to the underground fight hurting his back. The injury was of his own doing while training with free weights. But the fight was really with Jack Man.

This isn’t necessarily in accurate. I read a bio written about Bruce Lee as well as his family after his death, and it stated that in his youth, he would often get told off by his parents because he was constantly getting into fights in school and in his families culture public image means a lot.

24 years ago, I used to beat two second degree black belts in a handicap match when I was circuit training 20 hours per week. Then about a year later, my older cousin, Delvin (Now deceased,) proved to me that I could not even hurt him and that he could beat me effortlessly. He was about a 275lbs natural heavyweight and I was about 185lbs at the time. Within about 5 seconds, he had me in a bear hug and literally bit me on the shoulder just to prove he could do anything he wanted to me. Size matters. Doesn't matter that I used to beat a 235lbs ex-marine in fighting either, at some point size matters, and a 120lbs man couldn't beat the average American football player in a fight even if they otherwise had no fighting skills.

@@Artietnam Jason Skott Lee is of ZERO relation to Bruce Lee. You are thinking of Bruce’s only son Brandon Lee, who was offered the role of playing his father in this film, but he famously turned it down because he said as flattered as he was it didn’t feel right at all. And as much as he absolutely loved his dad, he and his father are two different people. Plus he didn’t want to pretend that he was kissing his mother. Too weird.
