I'm honestly so glad playback speed is a feature. There are some videos where people talk slow as balls to pad watch time and speeding them up is preferable to skipping around. Conversely, there are meme compilations made by people with so much tik tok brainrot that I have to play them at like 75% speed or entire clips fly by so fast that I don't even have time to register what appeared on my screen.

I don't get it, it seems like the opposite to me. 90% of the time I can't listen to podcasts and videos, I mostly read instead, because with audio media I feel like the "data transfer rate" is so slow. You read a lot faster than people talk. You know?

I think a difference is that he *does have ADHD* and he does the movie thing to mitigate any shortening of his attention span (which, yeah, he didn't do a good job of explaining). On the other end, the internet video brainrot thing is a widespread issue for neurotypical people, and something that worsens attention span issues for people with ADHD

I'd say it's harder to start than to actually do. I know that once I'm engrossed in a book I just zoom through it. That might just be cuz I read a lot as a kid, but idk.

I read about 3-4 hours a day. Was a hard battle getting to this point though. Basically had to turn it into a game, recording books and pages read, aiming for specific goals as I go. Then guilting the fuck out of myself if I slack too much. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy reading once I get started, but pulling away from the easy, brainrotting entertainment is excruciatingly difficult.

i don't speed up entertainment, or flick through it like jerma does, but i think speeding up videos is really good for learning. i do this looking back at uni lectures or studying anything really, if you're studying reading books isn't really slowing down since you can read a lot faster than you can hear something.

I do think absorbing too much entertaining information in one go makes it very difficult to absorb 'boring' information at other points in the day. And as someone diagnosed with adhd it's also silly how many people are like 'omg I swear I have adhd like I can't focus 😂' when they spend every moment in the day they possibly can watching anime at 2x speed with their phone propped up with one of those little circular stand things and a single wireless earbud while at work. Like at that point it's not adhd you're just in a bad spot in your life and you need to meditate for a few minutes write your goals down in a journal and do some stretches and breathe in fresh air and make homemade pretzels and mow the lawn and set a timer for your video game sessions

You're gonna judge a movie based off of one clip? Yeah. I am . I used to give movies or shows a chance and wasted a lot of time watching garbage. Just tried a show today because everyone said I should "give it a chance". Wasted two hours of my life because if I watched less than two episodes, I would have been told I wasn't "giving it a chance". Stuff coming out nowadays sucks, writing wise, so don't judge people who have standards. It does not hurt anyone to demand movies and shows have good writing.
