Having fur is not a requirement, still categorized as a furry but some call them scalies. People have all sorts of bug fursonas as well!

NA education in the chat. Spiders are bugs. Bugs are not exclusively insects.

"Bug" is a loose term mostly used outside of entomology in common parlance so in this case might as well mean nothing. But spiders aren't insects; they're arachnids, and it's my guess that the general negligence of the distinctions of terms is caused by lazy convenience in informal settings. Spiders are in the arachnids class, and insects are its own completely different class, while both are subsumed by the arthropod phylum
