I'm not a father, but I'm an uncle, and I have been richly blessed with six nieces and nephews - three of each. This song means a lot to me because though the relationship between a father and his child is unique, as an aunt or uncle engaged in the lives of their nieces and nephews, one cannot help but fall in love with the gift that it is to have them in your life. I have a special goodbye with one of my nieces where I blow her a kiss - I always get a kiss and that beautiful smile back. She's 15 now and it just amazes me because I remember the day she was born. I'm 26 and I was just a little boy, but I have rich, beautiful memories with all of them. So many stories with all of them! What a gift to get to watch them grow up. As he says in the song, "all of the precious time, like the wind, the years go by." Now I know that's right!

I remember meeting Jermaine and his brother for the first time through a mutual friend who passed away. They were in the same singing group way back then. Before he blew Alicia Keys out of her own song. Even then singing acapella with no mic in a living room I knew he was born to be a star. What an amazing dude and amazing singer.

There are haters for everything. My belief is, there are two types of people that would hate this song: Those that didn't have a good relationship with their dads and those that just hate because hating others makes them feel good about themselves (some people are just bitter about life in general). What I'm curious about is, what kind of music do these people listen to and why do they like that particular kind of music so much. Remember this though, how they feel doesn't affect your feelings or your life in any way, shape or form. Stay happy and positive and you're bound to live a better life than those that live theirs hating. Oh, and by the way, this song is absolutely beautiful. I'm a musician and I'm going to sing this song at my daughter's wedding one day. When she was a little girl she used to actually give me butterfly kisses. This song couldn't be more perfect for such a wonderful occasion.
