My very first Pats game was at Fenway Park. Babe Parilli was QB. Like you, I have lived through the worst of times and the other worldly of times. Jerod has learned from the best, played with many future Hall of Famers, and competed and beat many of the best. His tool box is loaded with more than most coaches can pull from. I am extremely excited that he will be on the sidelines next season.

I remember how Jerod was the undisputed leader of the Patriots defense. He was a tackling machine. Unfortunately, injuries cut his career short. Not only is he a Hall of Fame player, but and outstanding coach and leader. I have high expectations for him and the Patriots going forward. Also, the Patriots are setting an excellent example of hiiring their first black head coach who rosed through the ranks. His job was earned, not given. Also its great to see this hire in New England, were the perception of racism is very loud. I am glad the Patriots went in this direction, and not hire a regurgitated retread coach! Often times Italians wouldn't get hired because of their last name. Even the legendary coach Vince Lombardi had a hard time finding coaching job because he was Italian. Perhaps the worst head coach press conference I’ve ever heard. He doesn’t carry himself or speak like a head coach. “Thunder?” Unbelievably unprofessional and way too chummy. Wait until he drops 11 games and Robert brings him in for a chat. The golly gee, buddy fest will end real quick. He also wants to focus on race verse football. We’ll see what his hires look like but because he admits to seeing color, it suggests he’s more interested in black coaches verse just the best coaches, black or white. Terrible decision, not ready to be head coach based on his answers.

BTW, just curious, since the D will again be solid, especially with the return of Matthew Judon & Christian Gonzalez, and hopefully a resigning of Kyle Duggar, and some free agents (ahem, Patrick Queen?)... The issue has clearly been the OFFENSE, and just how many offensive meetings has Mayo ever directly influenced? We now have rookies as Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator & Special Teams. Pretty concerning. Let's hope AVP as Offensive Coordinator can staff the O-Line, Receivers, Tight Ends, and RBs with a great staff. We're gonna need EXPERIENCE. JUST AN OPINION, of a life long fan.

I think he will do good. He will relate to players and he will be willing to adapt offensively. Football and people have changed so much in the last 10 years. I think this was a necessary move for Mr. Kraft. Eric bienemy would be a good candidate for OC.

Great hire. Nobody wants to follow Bill so get someone to stink up the joint for the next 2 years, build up draft capital, and hire a real coach in 2026. I like it.
