Was at this show while a law student at GWU. Had moot court that night, went to the show in a suit!!

That last few minutes...good god. Jerry was amazing, we all love his playing, but sometimes....man sometimes he would pull shit out that was...unprecedented and not be repeated. Literally, Sublime. It probably even blew HIS mind- like "what the fuck did I just play..?!?" 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

The fruits of his constant search for new phrasings on his guitar. The lead breaks in After Midnight are pretty special too.

@@popecannabissativathctchc9340 that it is! Like 72-74 GD. Nothing comes close! I just call it "The Winter". Love Ozzie! Keith was great w/JGB but February/March '80 is just unreal. Jerry absolutely had a freedom that he definitely DID NOT have with the GD in 1980! In more ways than one. Man did he bless the right coast with some amazing shows. Boston 73, Providence '74 Fillmore East, Capitol Theater. Kean. The list goes on and on.

I was at the early show (of the night, they did an early and late show) and didn't know who was on keys for almost 40 years until I got on dead.net and Marye told me. As good as a show it was (AND I was in the 4th row) it nearly drove me crazy not knowing who that guy was despite describing him to everyone that would listen to me go on about how awesome he was (and the show overall). As much as technology sucks, I love it for the dissemination of the knowledge I really do need LOL!

So there are people in history you may have heard of like Albert Einstein and and Winston Churchill and Leonardo Xavinchie that shaped mankind. Those people would have stopped everything to see Mr. Garcia play. Trust me.

couldn't agree more.. between this and Kean college it's not a stretch to say Jerry was on the biggest heater of his career in Feb of '80....
