The thing about Jerry was not only that he was a creative genius and a brilliant guitar player. It’s also that his playing, whether simple or complex, was always immediately recognizable. He could play one note and you would know it’s Jerry Garcia. His style, while an obvious inspiration to many, is totally unique and irreplicable. In my opinion, this is what puts him among the finest guitarists of all time. I come back to his music over and over again.

@@mattdavis911 Are you 12 years old? They hastened his death by decades. He should still be here, and could have given us all 30 more years of music by now.

Short interview but some good nuggets of Jer in there. Love when he explains what his musical M.O. is and why it works.

Theres a cat in my band who often asks me, "What should we play for them?" meaning the audience. I always answer, "Nothing, I'm not an entertainer, I play for us not the audience". Thank you Jerr

That version of the band was really good. Cleanish Jerry and Brent was such a good combo.

He was actually clean during this period. It's why he looks so healthy. Before Brent passed. His last burst of creativity. Dead spring 1990 were on fire, Grisman acoustic recordings, JGB killing it. What you're seeing is Jerry Garcia truly happy and energized.
