It was Hank Williams Tonight, that absolutely slew me with the first line the first time I heard it. I had a tape my friend had made for me, which was on the other side of the tape. I played it by mistake. But, as I was walking out of my room to go to shower, that first line nailed me to the floor. I listened to the whole song. Again and again. Slowly I would entertain the previous or next song until I had absorbed what I know now to be Live at Greune Hall. I asked my friend, "WHO IS THAT ON THE OTHER SIDE?". He slowly fed me tape after tape of Jerry Jeff, which I played but nothing else for 3 years. I realize now that was half my lifetime ago, and I caught on late, (1997). I know everyone has their JJW story, but I can't help but see the divine hand at work that day. Bc, I never turned the tape over, and Jerry Jeff to me is such an artist of consequence. In my life anyway.
