They used to close down a classic old bar called the Dixie Chicken in College Station by playing this song followed by Pissin in the WInd. Everyone would be standing on the benches and chairs singing them both. Good stuff.

Seen JJW many times but the best was undoubtedly at the "Palamino" in north Hollywood circa (1979). Still had the Lost Gonzo Band with him. They played a midnight set 2 hours long. They weren't done when the club cut the power. JJW pushed the mike away and they kept going until the cops came at about 3am. 'Bout 10 of us hanging on... JJ invited us to their hotel they played until daylight, smokin' cigarettes and drinkin' beer. I actually when down for the count there in the hotel bar.

Amazing! What a historical show that must have been and a night never to forget! What was Jerry Jeff like just to hang around? From what I've heard, the 70s were his absolute wild period!

Jerry Jeff has never been the big superstar that some of his friends have but he has a loyal following of fans who go to see him live every chance they get. His Birthday Bash in Austin every year is a kick. If you've never been you need to do so while he's still performing. You won't regret it.

I’m 30 and just discovered him a month ago. I can’t stop listening to him. I’m happy as heck to have discovered him, but sad to learn he passed before I got a chance to see him. So many of his songs convey so much warmth and humor and personality that make you feel like you knew the guy. RIP Jerry

Repeating myself here but if you're a Tried And True Warrior you need to come to Camp Belize. Join about 150 people next January who know every word of every Jerry Jeff song and aren't ashamed to sing along. No better way to spend a cold, snowy January than sitting on Wet Willie's dock with 150 new friends with a cold Belikin in your hand singing along to Jerry Jeff.

I heard it the first time on a snowy night in the Colorado Rockies. A bunch of crazy friends were celebrating keeping warm. My sister and I danced to it all night. Now, the man who wrote it Chuck Pyle is my neighbor in this tiny Colorado town. This song got me through my life, Chuck says the same..Keep 'er Steady Chuck

Donald Betts Indeed, Donald... I was pleased to play guitar with Chuck in Sherman, Tx. many years ago. He's one the best pickers I've ever seen. He has a Jazz background on guitar and runs off and leaves everyone behind !!! LOL What a treat !!! I was only able to keep up with him. He also wrote "The Other Side of the Hill" that Jeff made popular around the same time. Thanks.

Jubal918 I have seen Chuck Pyle several times. Always amazed. I have never played with him (not even close to being able to) .... anyway... but once at an Open Mike night hosted my friend Celeste Krenz (check her stuff out) I did a couple songs. Chuck stopped by and did a couple of numbers. This was in Denver .. geesh... 20 years ago.

Donald Betts aaaahhh yes... Denver.... I did a gig at "The White Fence Farm" about 15 yrs ago. Fun folks. Very responsive and sweet. This old Texas boy had a great time. Also did some stuff with Reckless Abandon around the same time. Thanks for stirring up memories.

Every Jerry Jeff fan knows when he heard "Jaded Lover" for the first time. It's quintessential JJW. Come join us in Belize in January 2010
@colindominy15 жыл бұрын
The great album version of this song is paced considerably slower, to much greater effect, listening pleasure & enjoyment. I think that Jerry Jeff maybe should've performed this number more in its original format .. for a more emotive response / impact ... especially for JJW's core 'gonzo' type of following. Fear not, I remain a long-standing, forever-faithful Jerry Jeff hard-core fan. Creative artists & song-writers of his eminent ability don't come along that often, after all ...

What chord is Ray Hubbard playin' there? Looks like a Z or a Z flat Major!
