They absolutely were. I saw both of them in person . Since I am a Memphian born and raised. Knew Elvis even double dated with him way back when. The guy I was with also went to Humes high with Elvis. We met at a neighborhood 2 or 3 lane bowling alley. It was before Elvis became “King of Rock and Roll”. Well before he became a victim of drugs. He was the Southern gentleman his mother raised him to be. I did not run with his crowd. But I will always remember that one night that we were teens at the bowling alley.

I found Jerry Lee's records when I was an 8-year-old over at my aunt's house. That's the first time I heard "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On." I'm asking my cousins (about my age), "Who is this awesome man?" They didn't know. About the tenth time I played it, my aunt took it away from me, but told me about Jerry Lee. Then after that I noticed my mom was buying his stuff left and right!!! RIP KILLER. Thank you for some AWESOME music to grow up to!!! 💖💖💖

Jerry Lee was quite a showman. He was Elvis's equal in every respect, but his personal life messed him up. (The marriage to his young cousin.) A few years later, he made a nice come back. Glad to know it. I remain a fan.

I know him as a happy man in a relationship with a lovely Italian lady who is also a kind yet tough person. He is truly a legend and the last of his kind. i think he’s still alive. I know his music is eternal. And so is he.
