If not for the Myra scandal, Jerry Lee would have been as big as Elvis. He was simply amazing. Merle and Willie are the greatest country singers, but Jerry Lee Lewis is the greatest rock and roll performer, and one of the greatest rock and roll singers ever.

He could rock all right.

Yeah but neither would have gotten big if a young man by the name of Buddy Holly 22 hadn't died in a plane crash. Most say Buddy hadn't even scratched the surface of his talent yet even tho he already had 2 gold records.

I am a Memphis Native and have at one time seen all four of them. Jerry Lee Lewis just knocked everyone out of their seat. It was also not long after he had Heart Surgery. He didn't lose anything as he put all heart into that performance. The whole place was jumping. The Legend!

Nobody talks about Jerry Lee's voice. It's always the gimmicky piano slides and bad boy personality that you hear about. But man, that boy could sing. What a hauntingly soulful voice.
@russellyoung12622 жыл бұрын
I love the way Jerry puts his name in songs.....thats cool, he did it often and I always thought it was so f__kin cool and original for an entertainer.
@WeAreNotAmused8 ай бұрын
It was the casual third person. Talking about himself and not like. Aggrandizing but more matter of fact. And that's just the way it is Willie Didn't even mind when Jerry cut in on him a little bit there He was like F it Willie live long enough to. Understand that wisdom ten times over It's all about keeping it cool on stage.

Dicky Campilongo, apparently you aren't very familiar with Keith's body of work. The Stones had 4 LP's from late 60's to early 70's that were very heavily influenced by country music from his friendship with Gram Parsons.

When it comes to natural musical talent, Jerry Lee is way ahead of the these other guys. Ok they had their hits, and Willy is a great song writer and singer, but Jerry Lee can deliver a song like no one else. He's right up there with Hank Williams in being an original. He sets the standard and everyone else tries to imitate him.

WOW Wonderful version of a great oldie by some true superstars. Had the good fortune to see Jerry Lee Lewis perform live in Melbourne,Australia in the 60's at a place called West Melb Stadium & he was fooling around & pretending to SHAG the microphone--the girls went mad & he was magnificent. From a 71yo Aussie fan.

Terrific! couldn't have happened when they were young, the clashing egos would have detonated, but as old guts, they were better musicians and better adjusted, they all just got in front of an audience and fed off the audience and each other's skills and had themselves a ball. Great post, thanks.
