I saw 'The Family Jewels' on my 10th birthday in 1965 at the Mt. Prospect Cinema in Mt. Prospect, Ill. It was on a double bill with 'The Disorderly Orderly'. Loved it! Jerry Lewis was our generation's Jim Carrey. Thanks for the memories!

Never thought of him that way, but I agree; I'll bet he was a major influence on Carrey.

I saw this as a child with my family at a local drive-in. I laughed my little buns off, especially during this sequence. I'm 65 now and laughing my big buns off at the same scene! By the way, Captain Eddie made a lasting impression: I grew up to be a pilot, too!

@@richardblayneamerican8149 And I wouldn't be honest if I didn't admit that-- even after thousands of hours of professional flying-- I have more than a little bit of Captain Eddie in me!

When he accidentally rolls backwards down the aisle (and he's laughing) still cracks me up. The women don't even notice him. Jerry Lewis was the greatest comedian of all time.

I absolutely loved that character. He is coming to this airport every day even though he doesn't have any passengers. He has everything prepared and is ready to go, for the group of passengers that coincidentally are his guests here. It's probably not meant to look this way. But I find it inspirational, that he is following his dream with so much passion. And he is so pure. Aside from that - The character is also super funny. This music and how he always walks so closely around the plane. The scene where he accidentally rolls out of the plane made me laugh incredibly. I rarely had laughed so much at a scene in a movie :D

Those are the correct seats for passenger aircraft of that age. They were comfortable and, more importantly, very light weight.

I often wonder what came of Donna Butterworth and the life she lived. Besides her early years and the announcement of her passing, there's very little information on her.
